George Collins built his catalogue on thoughtful, often melancholic songwriting, so “Happiness Looks Good on You” is a deliberate turn. Pulled from his ongoing album New Ways of Getting Old, Collins wrote it after realizing how much of his back catalogue leaned reflective and sad, setting out this time with one clear goal: to make people smile. He got there by leaning into vintage R&B, Southern soul, gospel and New Orleans groove, drawing on The Staple Singers, Dr. John, Allen Toussaint and The Neville Brothers, and the result is a warm, horn-driven celebration of resilience rather than a song about hardship itself.

This song is a great example of why human music, with all its interplay between musicians and the expression of their souls in the moment, will never go away, no matter how polished AI-generated music gets. The positive energy here is very tangible, and it’s clear the musicians involved, Lou Pomanti on organ, piano and horn arrangements; Tony Carlucci on trumpet; David Wiffen on sax, William Carn on trombone, were genuinely having fun playing it. Intent can seem like an abstract idea, but it’s real and tangible if you listen closely enough, if you actually immerse yourself in it, and that joyful intent transfers straight onto the listener the more actively you engage with it. The gospel choir that closes the song out is where all of that comes together most clearly: handclaps, soaring harmonies. It really does feel like an actual room full of people celebrating together. That communal, in-the-moment quality is what it’s all about.

“Happiness Looks Good on You” earns its title. It doesn’t ignore the struggles behind it; it just chooses to celebrate what comes out the other side, and coming from an artist who’s spent most of his catalogue in more reflective territory, that choice lands as genuinely earned rather than forced.

Prague, May 1, 2026 – Singer-songwriter George Collins releases his deeply moving new single, “My Tomorrow Is Already Missing You Today,” a tender and emotionally rich ballad that explores the complexities of parenthood, the fleeting nature of time, and the quiet realization that today’s everyday moments will one day become tomorrow’s most cherished memories.

Written for his young daughters, the song captures a universal truth that even in the midst of life’s chaos, the messy bedrooms, the busy mornings, and dinner table struggles, there is a profound beauty that often goes unnoticed until it’s gone.

“The idea came from a simple but powerful realization. One day, I know I’ll miss all of it – even the challenging moments. And somehow, that future sense of loss is something I can already feel today.”

Musically, the single takes its inspiration from some of Collins’s most beloved singer-songwriters, including Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, James Taylor, and Harry Chapin. Their influence can be heard in the song’s warm melodic sensibility and storytelling depth, blending classic songwriting traditions with a fresh emotional perspective.

The song began with Collins making notes on a typical day in his household, capturing small, seemingly ordinary details that resonate with parents everywhere. From there, the now-defining line “My Tomorrow Is Already Missing You Today” emerged, with the melody and structure of the song quickly following. What started as a simple personal reflection has now evolved into a poignant meditation on love, time, and connection.

It was brought to life with the help of a talented team of collaborators, including a skilled producer, arranger, and vocalists.

The song is built around a beautifully bittersweet idea: living inside a moment while already feeling the future ache of missing it. That emotional tension becomes especially powerful through the line: “My tomorrow is already missing you today.” It is simple, yet deeply affecting. The lyric captures the quiet contradiction many parents experience, the awareness that ordinary days, often overlooked in real time, eventually become the memories we hold closest.

The track blends folk pop, indie folk, and acoustic singer-songwriter influences into a warm and inviting soundscape. Gentle melodies, layered harmonies, subtle strings, and organic instrumentation create an atmosphere that feels intimate without becoming overly dramatic. The arrangement moves with patience, allowing both the story and emotions to unfold naturally.

There is also a cinematic quality to the songwriting. Listening feels like opening a drawer of old polaroids, each image carrying fragments of laughter, cluttered rooms, shared meals, and life’s beautifully imperfect details. Collins transforms these everyday scenes into something quietly meaningful.

The sincerity in the vocal performance adds another layer of warmth. Collins leans into honesty, giving the song a comforting, heartfelt, and reflective presence.

With “My Tomorrow Is Already Missing You Today,” George Collins Band offers a gentle reminder to slow down, notice the moments that often pass unnoticed, and appreciate the ordinary days that one day may mean everything..

From its opening seconds, George Collins Band make it clear they aren’t interested in hesitation. What Living Is For arrives already in stride, powered by a guitar line that feels purposeful rather than decorative. There’s no dramatic wind-up, no attempt to manufacture urgency; the song behaves like momentum itself, already underway.

What follows is a carefully paced build. The groove stays elastic, letting organ swells and horn accents slip in and out without crowding the frame. Instead of swelling into something oversized, the arrangement stays lean and responsive, guided by instinct rather than spectacle. Even when the guitar steps forward for a solo, it feels conversational, as if answering a question the song has been quietly asking all along.

Lyrically, Collins doesn’t circle doubt, he cuts through it. Lines like “Too long on the straight and narrow / Too much time avoiding strife” land with the clarity of someone who’s done weighing options. This is writing that favors action over analysis, lived experience over abstraction. When he sings “Gonna break some bones – suck the marrow out of life”, it’s not shock for shock’s sake; it’s a declaration of intent.

Musically, the track sits comfortably within Americana and heartland rock traditions, but it refuses to feel retrospective. There’s a brightness to the production, a sense of air and immediacy that keeps everything rooted in the present. Horns punch when needed, then vanish. The rhythm section keeps things rolling without insisting on itself. Nothing overstays.

What gives What Living Is For its staying power is the alignment between message and motion. The song doesn’t just talk about choosing life, it behaves like someone who already has. By the time Collins repeats “It’s my life”, it doesn’t sound defiant or defensive. It sounds settled.

As the track closes with “Gonna find out what living is for”, it feels less like a question than a commitment. With What Living Is For, the George Collins Band offer a reminder that forward movement doesn’t always require reinvention, sometimes it simply asks that you stop standing still!

There’s something quite liberating about “Black and White World,” the latest single from George Collins. It doesn’t rush to impress or chase the next big moment, it simply unfolds, steady and sure, like a deep breath after a long day. With his signature blend of folk warmth and rock conviction, Collins paints a portrait of maturity that’s anything but dull.

The song begins with a tender guitar shimmer, the kind that signals thought rather than performance. Then his voice enters: seasoned, steady, and full of lived truth. “You think you know it all,” he sings, not as accusation but reflection, setting the tone for a track that’s less about division and more about release. It’s a song that understands how clarity often arrives not with fireworks, but with calm.

What makes “Black and White World” stand out isn’t its catchiness (though it’s plenty melodic) but its relatability. Collins writes like someone who’s had to unlearn certainty; someone who’s discovered that kindness can be a form of strength. The refrain, “Life’s too short to live in a black and white world,” lands not as a chorus hook but as a quiet philosophy.

The arrangement grows naturally, moving from intimate folk to bright country-rock tones without ever breaking its gentle pulse. His band plays with a rare sense of purpose: each instrument an extension of the song’s emotional contour rather than decoration. It’s music made by people who listen to each other, and that makes all the difference.

You can hear Collins’ past in every measure: the American roots of his youth, the years spent in finance before returning to music, the lessons of a man who’s learned to balance longing with acceptance. There’s Tom Petty’s plainspoken honesty here, a touch of Steve Earle’s grit, but what shines through most is Collins’ own steadiness, a creative voice that’s found its home in nuance.

Through “Black and White World,” Collins offers something rare: a song that listens back. His music reminds us that the richest moments aren’t painted in extremes, but in the subtle shades between them.

Because in the end, that’s where the real color lives!

Prague-based singer/songwriter George Collins dropped his brand new single, “New Way” on March 21st, marking the first release from his upcoming 14-track album, New Ways of Getting Old.

“New Way” is a timely, gritty, high-energy rocker that combines classic rock, pop, and soul influences with a modern edge. The riff-driven, horn inflected track tackles the chaos of today’s world head-on with a driving rhythm and intensity, exploring the tension between the dark times we face and the optimism that change is possible.

As Bob Dylan famously says, “They say the darkest hour is right before the dawn” – a sentiment that Collins embodies in this empowering, uplifting song.

“New Way” is just the beginning. The single is part of Collins’s ambitious new album, New Ways of Getting Old, which continues his journey as a songwriter and performer. With this ambitious and personal project, he will release a single every eight weeks for the next two years.

The tune draws its musical influences from the creative range of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Rising,” The White Stripes rocker “Seven Nation Army,” and Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” with a touch of The Rolling Stones and Elvis Costello thrown in for good measure.

The title is indirectly inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s classic dystopian film A Clockwork Orange and its iconic line, “It’s part of the new way.”

New Ways of Getting Old promises a rich variety of musical styles, with each track a testament to the enduring power of creativity and reinvention.

George Collins is a Prague-based singer/songwriter whose music speaks to the second act of life with sharp wit, emotional depth, and irresistibly catchy hooks. After decades in a high-powered career in international finance, Collins returned to his first love – music – surprising everyone who knew him only as a buttoned-up executive. What began as an impromptu Fourth of July performance at a friend’s bar several years ago reignited a creative fire that has resulted in a critically acclaimed debut EP (It’s Been a Long Time), the fan-favorite Songs for Grown-ups, and now a full-length follow-up: New Ways of Getting Old.

Drawing comparisons to artists like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, Collins combines classic rock, soul, and pop with literate, insightful lyrics into a unique blend he calls “Timeless Americana Rock”. His songs explore themes of aging, longing, love, parenting, and personal reinvention – with humor and heart. A former guitarist in a band with future Dave Matthews Band members Carter Beauford and LeRoi Moore, Collins now headlines venues across Prague and connects with an ever-growing global fanbase.

He’s not chasing fame – he’s chasing meaning, and it shows. With more than one million Spotify streams and over three million YouTube views, and a catalog that’s as thoughtful as it is hooky, George Collins proves it’s never too late to return to what moves you.

Prepare to be moved, uplifted, and inspired.
