There’s a considerable amount of prog in Beggars Whisky’s latest single. The 5-and-a-half-minute driving banger, titled ‘The Edge’, is relentless and addictive. With charismatic vocals and an unerring groove, Beggars Whisky just dropped a banger.

A group hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Beggars Whisky refer to their music as old-school southern rock. A description that does not do the group justice. The band is masterminded and founded by Mike Daniels the frontman, supported by Jeff McCurley and John Cunane interchanging lead guitar and bass duties, Paul Brown on guitars and vocals, and finally Colin McCawley’s drums. A band born out of a tragic accident that claimed the life of Daniels’s cousin, Beggars Whisky are claiming the most out of their lives.

‘The Edge’ is a song that mirrors the forward-moving, roadtrip-friendly color of classic rock that’s synonymous with legendary acts such as Deep Purple, ZZ Top, and Steppenwolf. With a groove that does not sway, a solid backbone defines the core of the sound, adorning it are bluesy riffs, a fiery lead guitar motif, some deeply charismatic vocals, and a confident gait that continues to make the song hypnotic throughout its long length.

‘The Edge’ is a very entertaining listen. Not out there to break any grounds, Beggars Whisky are out there to have fun and to make exciting songs, something they are capable of pulling off on ‘The Edge’.
