Valkyrie’s Bard — the project of composer, producer, tattooist, and novelist Sarah Miller — releases her new single, “Movement,” a dark pop anthem that builds from bare and intimate to full and cinematic, tracing the moment grief becomes fuel and people remember they are not alone. The track is the second single from her forthcoming album Drops in an Ocean and marks a powerful evolution from her acclaimed 2026 debut, Wake the Bones.

“Movement” arrives from a place of hard-won clarity. Sarah grew up studying classical piano and voice under her mother, Diane Miller — a Hall of Fame piano teacher who spent five decades in the field and administered Dorothy Taubman Seminars at Juilliard and Lincoln Center. Sarah left music at sixteen to pursue visual art, spending fifteen years as a tattooist and becoming a nationally recognized name in the craft, including a runner-up finish on Ink Master Season 2. She came back to songwriting in her late thirties, not as a career move, but as a necessity — when watching the world became too much to bear without somewhere to put it.

“Songwriting gave me an outlet,” she says, “and maybe a way to help others going through the same thing.”

That foundation — classical rigour, decades of life lived outside music, and the urgency of someone writing because they have to — is exactly what makes “Movement” land the way it does. The track moves from sparse and intimate to full and epic, with influences that live somewhere between Chappell Roan, Lady Gaga, and folk roots she can’t shake. It is a song about collective awakening: grief as instrument, voice as frequency, the moment isolation breaks and something larger begins.

“I think this one goes deeper,” Sarah says. “I’m just getting started and I have a lot more to say.”

Betty Moon is back in motion with a fresh wave of new music. The alt pop mainstay has announced Strangely Beautiful, a six track EP arriving April 17 and her first original release since Cosmicoma in 2021. Leading the rollout is “Want Me To,” a sleek, attitude driven single that channels the same bold energy that made her a standout during the 90s alternative scene.

Blending raw rock elements with shimmering electropop and touches of soul, “Want Me To” hits that sweet spot between retro influence and modern polish. It is another example of Moon’s ability to reinvent her sound while staying true to the confident, genre bending style that defines her work. That versatility has helped her music land in shows like Californication, Dexter, and The Walking Dead, while continuing to resonate with listeners worldwide.

Strangely Beautiful keeps Moon firmly in the driver’s seat, continuing the independent path she carved out with her Evolver Music imprint after her early success in Canada and time on A&M Records. The upcoming EP is expected to dive deeper emotionally, pairing her signature edge with a more reflective tone centered on growth and transformation. “Want Me To” is out now, with the full project arriving next month.

DUBLIN, IRELAND – Dublin-based post-punk and synthpop act Gravité Fresq returns with “Reality Is Premium,” a sleek, high-octane electronic anthem for the subscription era. Fusing 80s new wave textures with sharp, satirical lyricism, the new single delivers a massive, arena-sized synthpop sound backed by terrific atmosphere-building.

Praised by Rock Era Magazine for its “simple, prodding groove that acts as a tireless locomotive,” the track draws heavy influence from the driving basslines of New Order and the icy melodrama of Depeche Mode. “Reality Is Premium” pairs polished synth stabs and a relentless drum machine beat with a sharp critique of modern existential dread, capturing the anxiety of a world where genuine human connection feels increasingly locked behind a paywall. Find out our thoughts on “Reality Is Premium” here.

“We are drowning in AI-generated noise,” the band states. “We used to label the artificial; soon we will have to tag the human. ‘Reality Is Premium’ is about the moment authenticity becomes a luxury good you have to subscribe to.”

The chorus anchors the track’s cyber-anxiety with a hauntingly catchy refrain: “Reality is premium / Truth is pay-per-view / Everything is generated except the fear in you.” It is a stylish, icy anthem for a glitching world that invites listeners to dance while quietly questioning what remains untouched by the algorithm.

Although there are a lot of people who may disagree with my opinion, don’t you see that the trendy electro-Sha3by (a.k.a Mahragant) is facing the same fate as our local metal music scene back in the late ’90s and early 2000s?

I still remember when people were struggling to play and even listen to their music. To me, such days actually witnessed the birth of an idea called Rock Era, yeah! I am talking about something between 2001 and 2004.

I still remember concerts in a barn in Mansourya, a non-qualified venue in Moqatam, among other shitty places. Why? The answer is pretty simple, which is to avoid getting caught by the authorities. But why would you get caught? Frankly, I don’t have a specific answer, but maybe because we were a bunch of guys and girls who were just want to play or listen to the kind of music they like!

Frankly, I am not a Mahragaant fan at all. In fact, I am one of the old-schoolers who believe such cliché home records, made a huge negative effect on the local independent studios, engineers, musicians, and venues. In addition to its influence on the younger generation on the streets. Still, I am one of those who believe if you ban, doesn’t mean you are right.

The same happened a few years ago when the musicians’ syndicate banned several metal concerts in many venues, and this was in the past few years, not 20 years ago! I believe that it’s really hard to ban art, because it usually finds a way to be expressed anyway, either we like it or not! Back to metal music, the majority of lyrics are about social, political, psychological, even romantic topics, and we can say a negligible percentage who were performing excrement and anti-religious topics.

Now, I have a question for you, but first let me clarify, the government – as well as the public – were trying to ban rock and metal concerts 20 years ago. In your opinion, have they succeeded in such a matter? Well, I would love to know your answer on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
