With this latest release, Slovak composer and guitarist NOR.BE pushes his cinematic jazz-rock sound further, building an instrumental that thrives on shifting dynamics, layered textures, and the interplay between a formidable ensemble of musicians.

Despite its many moving parts, the production never feels cluttered. Each instrument has room to breathe, contributing to an arrangement that balances technical precision with emotional depth.

The wordless male and female vocals bring an almost otherworldly quality to “Once,” drifting through the arrangement like fragments of a half-remembered dream. Blending seamlessly with the strings and horns, they deepen the track’s cinematic atmosphere without interrupting its flow. Beneath them, Colaiuta’s dynamic drumming keeps the composition in motion, giving its more delicate passages a subtle undercurrent of energy.

The composition’s progression is equally compelling. Beginning with a contemplative, jazz-inflected groove, “Once” gradually opens into brighter, more energetic passages before reaching a euphoric peak and suddenly dropping into silence. The return to a quieter, guitar-led moment feels like emerging from an immersive memory, leaving behind a softer, more grounded impression. These transitions keep the track unpredictable, allowing its contrasting moods to form a cohesive musical narrative.

This interplay between genres reflects NOR.BE‘s broader artistic vision, bringing together jazz improvisation, progressive rock, and classical orchestration. Ahead of his debut album, A Dream Come True, scheduled for release on November 26, 2026, “Once” offers a glimpse into a project built around instrumental storytelling and ambitious collaborations.

The real achievement of “Once” lies in how its many moving parts come together without losing their individuality. With NOR.BE guiding an accomplished ensemble through intricate rhythms and cinematic arrangements, the track becomes a compelling meeting point between technical precision and expressive freedom.

THE SUITE is not an album you press play on. It is an album you enter.

Independent artist Stefano Jeff Blues announces the release of The Suite — eleven tracks conceived as eleven rooms, each one a threshold between presence and absence, light and silence. Built around piano, carefully placed silences, and a rarefied atmospheric sensibility that moves between blues, jazz, cinematic textures, and contemporary sonic exploration, it is a record that does not tell a story so much as inhabit one.

“Eleven rooms, a single breath. The Suite does not tell a story: it inhabits it. Each track is a threshold between presence and absence, light and silence.”

The Album as Architecture

The Suite is a passage through rooms suspended in time. Each piece is a fragment of solitude, memory, and waiting. Between piano, silences, and rarefied atmospheres, the listener walks interior corridors where the boundary between space, memory, and perception slowly dissolves.

The Suite unfolds as a sequence of interiors. Each piece is a room. Each room is a different way of listening to silence.

The eleven tracks move through distinct emotional and spatial states — each one described not through musical terminology, but through the experience of entering it:

A Chair in Silence opens the journey with an empty chair at the centre of the room. No one enters, no one leaves. All that remains are a few notes and time slowing almost to a halt.

Corridor One opens into shadow. Steps move with no precise destination, accompanied by the distant sound of something that seems to remember.

Corridor Three finds the air growing denser — the same path, yet every detail appears different, as if the place had absorbed the thoughts of whoever passes through it.

Corridor Two offers an almost imperceptible detour. The walls seem to draw closer, while a hidden emotion surfaces and at once hides again.

Dust in the Air sees old memories rising slowly, suspended between what has been and what remains.

Interlude: Static Light crosses the darkness with intermittent flashes — no melody, only electrical traces and fragments of light that appear and disappear.

Interlude creates a space of passage where the resonances of the previous rooms mingle with those to come, forming a fleeting point of balance.

Room Without Time stops movement entirely. Every gesture repeats itself unchanged, like a memory left trapped.

Soft Walls absorbs every sound and every word. The outside world disappears, leaving only a warm, silent stillness.

Suite (Exit) opens a door slowly. Space seems to widen for an instant, then everything dissolves, leaving only a distant trace.

The Last Room closes the album in near-emptiness. The notes stay suspended in the air before vanishing — without a true conclusion, without a farewell.

Stefano Jeff Blues is an independent artist whose music begins with the blues but refuses to stay within its boundaries. Blending blues, jazz, blues-rock, gospel, and contemporary R&B with cinematic atmospheres and electronic textures, he has built a personal language centred on guitar, piano, synthesisers, space, and silence.

His approach is rooted in tradition but driven by exploration: classic blues grit, groove, and emotional honesty meet jazz harmony, unexpected dynamics, and a contemporary sonic sensibility. Rather than treating the blues as a destination, he uses it as a starting point for new musical directions. Each album is conceived as a complete journey rather than a collection of individual tracks — music and imagery developing together, compositions becoming scenes, spaces, and stages of a wider narrative. Silence is part of that language, sometimes carrying as much expressive weight as the notes themselves.

Recording, producing, arranging, and curating his projects independently allows Stefano Jeff Blues to preserve a coherent artistic vision from the first idea to the final result. At the centre of everything is not numbers or trends, but a simple principle: authentic music made for people who still take the time to truly listen.

The Suite is his fullest expression of that principle yet.

PARIS / NEW YORK — The Discretes — the experimental art rock duo of vocalist and lyricist CECILIA and multi-instrumentalist Ali Ayrik — announce the release of their debut album, In Sore Bless, out August 11, 2026 on all digital platforms via their independent artist-run label Oriflamme, with vinyl following September 15th. Lead single and music video “Deep Noon” is available now.

This is not background music. It is a ceremony.

In Sore Bless coaxes its listeners into a ritualistic trance — dark, unapologetic, and entirely singular. Weaving together post-rock, noise rock, art rock, experimental, cinematic, ambient, and trip-hop influences into what the duo describes as a musical mandala, it is a record that carries the spiritual power of speaking in tongues and retreating inward, away from the noise and fury of the outer world, toward something ancient and true. From the very first notes, something is being conjured here that is genuinely difficult to name — and impossible to resist.

For fans of Portishead, Noveller, Blonde Redhead, Chelsea Wolfe, and MONO, In Sore Bless offers both solace and challenge in equal measure.

“We find inspiration in the entropy of life,” the duo says. “Sometimes we celebrate it and at other times we resist it. Art and music act like a bandpass filter — cut out the sound and fury and focus your attention on what moves you. Creativity is channeling energy to make your own bandpass filter, and inspiration is the motivation to express ourselves and to take leaps of faith when doing so.”

In Sore Bless is that filter made manifest — eight tracks that move through post-noise ballads, distilled jams, fragments of Anatolian trip-hop, and other genre-amalgams, all drawn into the orbit of CECILIA’s voice. She sings in English, French, and Italian, calling to an omnipresent yet elusive love — binding, repelling, fragile, transient, and spiritual. Her lyrics, rich with references and homages to dead artists and writers she loves, unfold over Ali’s background of synth drones, hand percussion, electronic textures, and strings. Olivia Baldi contributes cello on “ICI.”

“To me, writing and singing most often feels like entering into a conversation with invisible forces and the lingering aura of the dead,” CECILIA says. “A dialogue with voices and archives that have deeply resonated with me.”

The album required something genuinely new from CECILIA — a surrender of control that she has not offered in over a decade of solo work. For the first time, she took on strictly the role of singer, leaving all instrumental work to Ali. The voice, more exposed than ever, carries a direct and nakedly human strength.

“This is my first collaboration in more than ten years of working solo,” she says. “The voice is more exposed and in that nakedness, there is a direct, human strength. At a time when my own music is becoming more minimal and stripped down, it was refreshing to work with Ali’s instrumentals that are rich, heavy, saturated and opening up to different energies.”

For Ali, the record is a synthesis of everything — a tribute to a lifetime spent more in the audience than on stage, absorbing music across continents and genres, from a street concert in Frankfurt at the age of seven to a path that led through punk, post-punk, noise, free jazz, and finally into the recording studio.

“Music accompanies us throughout our lives,” Ali says. “It’s a steady drip of inspiration in itself and there’s always so much to learn and explore. CECILIA’s art and singing inspire me.”

Pascal & The Shades build their identity around a specific kind of stillness, and “Spirit of the Cactus” leans all the way into it. The track is constructed from spoken-word desert storytelling, improvised guitar, and shakers that pulse steadily underneath like a heartbeat in the sand, moving less like a conventional song and more like a slow wave. The spoken word sits at the center of it all, delivered like a traveler recounting visions picked up somewhere along a long road, while the guitar wanders freely around that voice, bending into reverb-soaked mirages rather than settling into any fixed shape.

This is a track that asks you to set time aside for it, to really sit and savor it, ideally outdoors while stargazing, or if not, somewhere quiet and dimly lit indoors. It genuinely requires slowing down to fully land, and the atmosphere it builds while you do is very good, warm, dusty, unhurried, exactly the ritual-at-dusk feeling the band seems to be going for. One small note, purely a matter of personal taste: the reverb-heavy guitar tone runs a touch brighter than I’d have chosen, and I think I’d have connected with it even more if it leaned warmer. That said, it’s easy to understand why it’s tuned the way it is; that brightness gives the guitar a shimmering, mirage-like quality that fits the desert-hallucination concept the whole track is built around.

What comes through most is how confidently minimal the whole thing is. Nothing here is rushed or overplayed, and in a landscape full of maximalist, over-produced indie releases, there’s something genuinely refreshing about a song this committed to live improvisation and restraint. “Spirit of the Cactus” isn’t built for a casual first listen; it’s built for the person willing to actually slow down with it, and for that listener, it delivers exactly the strange, beautiful stillness it’s promising.

Dimosthenis Arnaoutakis has been a professional musician since 2020, first making a name for himself through Roswell 47, a one-man project built around Greek-language lyrics and instrumental work, its name borrowed from the famous 1947 incident in New Mexico. Since parting ways with his former label, Music Mirror, earlier this year, he’s gone fully independent and shifted his focus almost entirely to instrumental music, blending Greek folk traditions like dimotiko and rebetiko with American roots influences: spaghetti-western scoring, blues, country, and vintage guitar records. Early Instrumental Works: The Psychic Experiences, out June 19th, gathers together previous singles and unreleased material into his second full-length of the year, and it plays as a genuine survey of everywhere his instrumental writing has gone recently.

The album’s throughline shows up clearly across its three guitar-led singles. “Salamandra,” the first of the trio, builds on the Greek syrtos rhythm, layering electric guitar improvisation and reverb-soaked slide guitar over that traditional pulse, and it sets the record’s whole character early. “Jugador Blues” follows in a moodier, more American vein, plucked guitar and unhurried rhythm forming a patient blues instrumental with winding lead lines. “Il Traditore” ends that trilogy by combining the best parts of the first two, which include rhythm parts from one song and quoting melodies from another. Together, the three make the clearest case for what Arnaoutakis is actually doing on this record: treating folk rhythm and guitar improvisation as two ends of the same idea rather than separate traditions bolted together.

The second half of the album shifts into a much more atmospheric style; it borders on horror, actually, and my personal favorite tracks are “Conspiracy” and “Seance.” The former because of how harmonically interesting it is, and the latter because of how texturally interesting it is. The harmony of “Conspiracy” is fittingly very creepy, and the bassline is so off-putting, like a lurking evil in the shadows, while the chords are like flickering candlelight and a church organ being played ritually to usher in some eldritch monstrosity. The textures of “Seance” stand out because there are multiple synthesizer sounds that are used effectively here, and so it’s very different from the traditional approach of most of the other tracks. Harmonically, it’s very similar to “Conspiracy” actually, but that big fuzzy lead guitar sound that comes in abruptly is like the eldritch abomination itself awakening and speaking in short, ominous, incoherent sentences.

That tonal swing, from folk-rooted guitar pieces into something considerably darker and more atmospheric by the album’s back half, is what keeps Early Instrumental Works from playing like a simple singles compilation. It’s a genuinely varied listen that still holds together, closing out on a gentler, more melodic note with “Waltz” after all that atmospheric weight. For an artist barely a year into working fully independently, this record makes a strong case that instrumental music alone can carry as much range and personality as anything with lyrics attached.

The arrangement skillfully balances intensity and restraint, providing the perfect backdrop for its complex narrative while allowing the emotional tension to unfold organically.

At the core of the track lies Ferrara’s enchanting vocal performance. Her delivery infuses the metaphor-rich lyrics with both vulnerability and conviction, enhancing a narrative that navigates themes of desire, illusion, and emotional distance. The songwriting vividly depicts scenes, rendering the track almost cinematic in its breadth while retaining a profoundly human essence. Together, the music and lyrics create an immersive experience.

Some music defies description — and that’s precisely the point. Sun Raven, the chameleonic solo project of Australian multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Stephen Murray, returns with its third and most experimental full-length yet: “Anam Cara”, out now on all digital platforms. A sprawling, cinematic instrumental journey that moves between atmospheric prog, post-rock, sludge, jazz, and psychedelia without ever stopping to ask permission, “Anam Cara” is the kind of record that rewards deep listening and rewards it differently every time. We sat down with Stephen to talk about the world behind the music and where Sun Raven goes from here.

“Anam Cara” is a Gaelic phrase meaning “soul friend” — a concept rooted in deep spiritual kinship and connection. Why that title for this record, and what does it mean in the context of what you were creating?

I originally had a Celtic mythology theme for this album, but drifted from that during the writing process but the phrase “Anam Cara” sounded right for the album. Music to me is like a soul friend.

You’ve described this as your most experimental release yet — and Sun Raven’s sound already spans atmospheric prog, post-rock, sludge, jazz, and psychedelia. Where do you feel you pushed furthest into new territory on this album compared to your previous two records?

The first two records were more rooted in metal music with elements of progressive, alternative, ambient. I felt like I had gone as far as I could creatively within that style. For “Anam Cara” I wanted it to be more difficult for the listener to define a certain style and just wrote with almost total freedom but still having elements that made it sound like a Sun Raven album.

Sun Raven is entirely your own vehicle — you write, compose, produce, and perform everything yourself. What does that total creative solitude give you that a band environment couldn’t — and is there anything it takes away?

I like having the freedom to create what I want without having to compromise for other people. Part of the reason Sun Raven is a solo project is because I haven’t been able to find like-minded musicians that live nearby to work with. Sun Raven started as a band with a vocalist and bassist but the creative process wasn’t working with those other musicians so I decided to do everything myself and make the music purely instrumental.

The album draws comparisons to artists as varied as John Carpenter, Mogwai, Russian Circles, Tool, and Godspeed! You Black Emperor. When you’re composing instrumentally without lyrics to anchor the listener, how do you guide the emotional and narrative journey of a piece from beginning to end?

Song titles play an important role to set the mood of an instrumental song, I think they give the listener a visual starting point. Having an underlying melody is also important, even if the guitar part isn’t playing a lead guitar melody, having strong melodic notes within a chord progression creates a memorable song without a vocalist.

“Anam Cara” is described as the perfect soundtrack for creative thinking — dense, hypnotic, and cinematic. Do you compose with a visual or narrative world in mind, and if so, what did the world of this album look and feel like to you while you were building it?

Sometimes I have a theme for a song and that will influence the type of instruments, chord progressions, time signatures I use. Other times it will just be a spark of inspiration that seems to come out of nowhere and I feel as if I am more of a vehicle for this creative process and I try and flow with it as much as possible.

Three albums in and the project is still evolving rapidly. What does the horizon look like for Sun Raven — and is there a sound or a concept already forming that might take the project somewhere new?

I feel like I have hit a creative peak with this album and Sun Raven. There will probably be another Sun Raven album in the future but for the near future I am focusing on a new project that I hope will also become a band with other musicians, it’s called Evahfar and it will be the first public project to feature me on vocals as well as performing all the instruments for the debut EP. It’s sound is based in Alternative Rock with Jazz and Folk influences. I am really excited about it.

Australian experimental progressive rock project Sun Raven — the chameleonic solo vehicle of multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Stephen Murray — announces the release of its third full-length album, Anam Cara, out now on all digital platforms. Written, performed, and produced entirely by Murray himself — guitars, bass, keyboards, percussion, drums, and drum programming — it is his most ambitious, wide-ranging, and fully realised work to date. A ten-track instrumental journey into territory that belongs to no single genre and no single mood, but holds all of them at once.

Anam Cara is a Gaelic phrase meaning “soul friend” — a term for someone who sees and accepts you completely, who meets you in the deepest part of yourself. As a title for an album of this scope and interiority, it is exactly right.

Anam Cara moves through its ten tracks with the logic of a dream — hypnotic, dense, and cinematically assembled, blurring the lines between atmospheric progressive rock, post-rock, experimental music, jazz, psychedelia, and the sludgy, distortion-heavy weight of heavy alternative. Heavy guitars coalesce with dream-like reverbs and beautiful, expansive soundscapes, creating something that sits comfortably alongside the work of John Carpenter, Mogwai, Russian Circles, Tool, and Godspeed! You Black Emperor — while remaining unmistakably Murray’s own.

The compositions achieve a strength greater than the sum of their parts — each piece built from interwoven inspirations that interact and evolve rather than simply stack. The result is the perfect soundtrack for creative thinking: music that fills space without demanding attention, commands attention without demanding anything in return, and rewards both passive listening and deep immersion with equal generosity.

Each track carries its own resonance — from the opening “Bridge Between Worlds” through the title track, the blank-slate meditation of “Tabula Rasa”, the prismatic “Kaleidoscope”, the ancient mythological pull of “Eiocha”, the shifting atmospheric weight of “Change of Season”, “Shadow of Truth” and the precise moment of “Kairos”, to the emotional declaration of “U R Everything” and the graceful departure of “Leaving Orbit.” Ten pieces. One continuous, coherent world.

Sun Raven is Stephen Murray’s creative universe — a project built on the freedom to go anywhere the composition demands, unconstrained by genre, expectation, or collaboration. Murray handles every element himself, shaping each track from initial idea to final mastered output with a composer’s instinct and a producer’s ear.

Anam Cara is his third full-length release and the point at which Sun Raven’s experimental ambitions find their sharpest and most confident expression. The sonic palette is broader than anything he has attempted before — progressive and post-rock at the foundation, with jazz, psychedelia, and experimental music woven through every arrangement. Heavy where it needs to be. Beautiful where that serves better. Always in motion.

Not every song arrives carrying answers. Some emerge from uncertainty, from observation, from the quiet attempt to understand a world that suddenly feels unfamiliar. That is precisely where Who Do You Belong to Now? (Great Southern Land) finds its emotional centre. With this latest release, Melbourne artist Paul Louis Villani crafts a brooding and introspective piece that moves gracefully between industrial tension and human fragility.

The track is not built as a political declaration, despite the themes it touches upon. Instead, Villani approaches identity, belonging, and social pressure from a deeply personal perspective. The song feels less concerned with proving a point and more interested in capturing a feeling, that subtle but persistent sense that something no longer sits quite where it used to.

Throughout the track, emotional honesty becomes its strongest element. Rather than offering solutions or choosing sides, Villani leaves space for reflection. Questions surrounding survival, modern pressures, and shifting realities remain open, allowing listeners to enter the experience through their own interpretations.

Who Do You Belong to Now? (Great Southern Land) draws from alternative rock foundations while incorporating dark wave atmospheres, industrial textures, emo undertones, and experimental elements. Layers of distortion and uneasy sonic details create a restless landscape that mirrors the emotional weight carried by the lyrics.

Equally compelling is the balance within the production itself. The harsher industrial edges bring tension, while softer atmospheric moments preserve the vulnerability at the song’s centre. Experimental choices never feel excessive; instead, they deepen the emotional atmosphere and strengthen the track’s sense of intimacy.

In a musical climate often driven by certainty and loud declarations, this release takes a different path. Who Do You Belong to Now? (Great Southern Land) chooses introspection over conclusions. Paul Louis Villani offers a thoughtful exploration of identity and unease, crafting a release that lingers through mood, tension, and emotional openness..

There is something terrifyingly plausible about the world Social Treble constructs on “Crowded Silence (Binaural Audio).” Not because it imagines a dystopian future, but because it barely feels like fiction at all. Set in a hyper-surveilled Bengaluru of 2031, the track follows Token AS-1133, a “Persistent Cognitive Token” whose thoughts, labor, attention span, and creative output have been absorbed into the SOMA Network’s endless extraction economy. “There are no employees anymore. Only engaged tokens and silenced ones.” That single line hangs over the entire composition like fluorescent corporate lighting: cold, artificial, and almost impossible to escape..

What makes “Crowded Silence” intriguing is that Social Treble understands dystopia not as spectacle, but as procedure. The horror here is contractual. Hidden inside the Token Activation Contract is a forgotten clause permitting voluntary decommissioning if a token can remain cognitively and biometrically invisible to the surveillance mesh for almost 229 seconds. The system wrote the clause. The system forgot the clause. He found it anyway. “He reads it more carefully than the system reads him, and the reading is the exit.” That sentence becomes the emotional thesis of the entire project: resistance not through violence, but through interpretation.

“Crowded Silence” refuses conventional structure entirely. No chorus, no verses, no lyrical hooks begging for replay value. Instead, the track unfolds as a six-act cinematic sequence moving through “Boot Sequence,” “Algorithmic Colonization,” “Structural Collapse,” and “Reabsorption Failure” with unnerving precision. The composition behaves like an escape protocol unfolding in real time. Industrial textures grind against ambient post-rock atmospheres while electronic pulses flicker like malfunctioning telemetry signals. The influence of Nine Inch Nails is present in the mechanical density, while echoes of Steven Wilson and Vangelis emerge through the track’s patient, cinematic architecture. Yet the result never feels derivative. Social Treble calls it “cyber-prog,” and honestly, that description fits perfectly: less a genre than a psychological environment.

The binaural production is where the experience fully mutates into something immersive and strangely physical. “ON HEADPHONES, OR NOT AT ALL” is not marketing language here; it is an instruction. Dragonfly drones circle the listener’s skull. Metallic reverbs stretch behind your shoulders. Waves from the brass tuning fork move through the listening field rather than merely across it. Through headphones, “Crowded Silence” stops sounding like a song and starts behaving like a monitored space. You are not observing the surveillance system anymore. You are standing inside it.

The visual component deepens the paranoia beautifully. The glitched subtitles, collapsing holograms, fragmented rendering artifacts, and unstable dragonflies are framed not as stylistic flourishes but as evidence of system failure. The SOMA Network can no longer render AS-1133 correctly because it can no longer read him. One of the strongest moments arrives during the “Compliance Court” sequence when synthetic architectural walls peel away to reveal a real park beneath the simulation, as though reality itself had been buried underneath endless layers of optimization. “What the system could not see, you are now seeing.” It is both a narrative reveal and a philosophical one.

There is also something quietly radical about how transparent this entire release is. Social Treble openly discloses every tool used in the creation process: MIDI guitar, virtual instruments, AI-generated visuals, DAWs, editing software; stripping away the illusion of technological mysticism. The project never pretends the machines created themselves. The systems are part of the medium, but the emotional architecture remains primarily human; and perhaps that is what gives “Crowded Silence” its emotional weight beneath all the cybernetic aesthetics: this is ultimately a story about reclaiming unreadability in a world obsessed with quantifying every fragment of existence.

“Crowded Silence” by Social Treble leaves behind more than an immersive audio experiment or a dystopian concept piece. The track becomes an argument for opacity itself. For the right to remain partially unknowable in systems designed to monetize total visibility. If “Skyline Motherboard… The Burden of Being Known” was the diagnosis, then “Crowded Silence” truly feels like the escape protocol: 229 seconds of disappearing from the grid without ever needing to run..
