Miss Velvet is a critically acclaimed American singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles. She made an impression on the world with her powerful voice while being the vocalist of Miss Velvet & The Blue Wolf band who gained 2 top 20 hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and opened a world tour for the legendary George Clinton who described Miss Velvet’s voice as “the definition of rock n roll”. After leaving the band in 2021 Miss Velvet decided to come back this year with the help of acclaimed rock producer Esjay Jones; to revive a genre that had almost been forgotten. Releasing “Lovin’ In The Afternoon” on Valentine’s day the 14th of February, teasing her upcoming album “Traveler” that “blurs the lines between the roles of being a rock star, an artistic explorer, and a young mother”.

“Lovin’ In The Afternoon” is an arena rock song that starts with Miss Velvet singing to draw the listener in with her powerful, flawless and strong voice before breaking into a hard rocking guitar riff. The song immediately gives an old school rock vibe reminding me of the hairy metal era. Backed by pounding drums and fat bass, sprinkled with organs and lead guitars in the background giving the song a full soundscape. Despite the song being well-produced and having a lively atmosphere, Miss Violet’s voice definitely steals the show with its perfection and charisma. She is definitely a “powerhouse” as some people call her. “Lovin’ In The Afternoon” is an addictive and sing-along song that you must listen to. Darrian Gerard kickstarts Basement Stadium with Explosion, a perfect opener with loads of energetic riffs, hard-hitting drums, and uplifting vocals that got me excited and ready to go. It even has some dynamic twists and turns that make it even more interesting and shows that Gerard is not willing to take the easy way in her writing. Powerless hits next with a more emotional sound and touching melodies. I had the pleasure to review it upon its release as a single and man, it’s one hell of a unique piece that demonstrates Darrian Gerard’s writing skills with its smooth progression that keeps on pushing forward without compromising its core feeling. Gerard steers into a darker and more atmospheric territory on Everybody’s Mad at Me, the acoustic guitar intro gave it a warm welcoming opener as the synths crept in creating the dark atmospheric halo that alongside Darrian’s soft smooth vocals formed a perfect fit. It keeps on slowly and skillfully progressing and getting into a bigger sound until the well-arranged and orchestrated chorus hits in, pushing its sound and dynamics even further adding a deeper, more interesting layer to its mix. With an easy-going structure and insanely energetic drumming comes Backseat Driver. It has a lovely laid-back sound that projects a lot of early 2000s rock vibes that’s pretty approachable to a wide range of audiences, especially with Gerard’s catchy vocals. Ending the EP with an open sound and chill melodies comes Old Wounds. It has a smooth, fluid structure with a beautiful piano progression and a vocal melody that leads its dynamics throughout its streaming flow. A lovely ending to such a well-written solid EP.

Basement Stadium is a great start by Darrian Gerard, it shows her personality alongside her writing skills in a way that’ll make her fans relate to her music and that’ll create an unbreakable bond between them. Darrian managed to cleverly shape her influences and add her very own touch to them, creating something special that’s her very own. Looking forward to more from Darrian Gerard, Keep on rocking. A brilliant collaboration from the 7 continents, a collaboration of 25 musicians form INTERCONTINEN7AL as the first band in history to record music from the 7 continents.

Literally from EVERYWHERE, INTERCONTINEN7AL release their track “Beautiful Mind” with a multicultural and an intercontinental background that was born in the BandLab application and also as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown that influenced artists to record across lands and seas.

“Beautiful Mind” is part of the album “Intercontinen7al Vol.3” which was collaborated by 25 musicians. The track with a mellow guitar riff that implies a smooth future questioning just before the drums interfere and the vocals vibe us into Beach House’s kind of vibe that keeps on flowing like beach waves engulfing the spaces of the earth, combining the continents again just as the earth was reformed.

Guitars are mellow and smooth with a clean tone at the beginning of the track, but then all of a sudden the rocking distortion of guitars heats things up along with some flaming sonic double bass drumming and the synths solos blazed a stunning heavy theme into our ears.

INTERCONTINEN7AL have united the whole world and still are after spreading peace through releasing a track titled “Where Do We Go from Here?” featuring artists from both Ukraine and Russia to promote peace as the band stated.

Across the seven seas and over the green and desert parts of land, the INTERCONTINEN7AL rocking music made the world unite in sound.
