…and the sound that comes out from these four amazing musicians is absolutely mesmerizing from the perspectives of musicality, quality, and uniqueness…

Having been influenced by the likes of Pinback, Elephant 6, and Pixies…Larches has developed a unique musical identity to themselves that feels and sounds like nothing else.

Their latest album “Attack of the Telephones” was written, produced, and mixed by Jacob Cona at his home and Small Fish Studio and mastered by Jesse Mangum.

…the keywords for this album are simple to say, but very complicated to perform…it’s diversity and experimentation…

Larches doesn’t shy away from going into uncharted musical territories, while maintaining high levels of musicality and instantly hooking melodies…but they also have some avante-garde DNA in them.

“Attack of the Telephones” has 10 songs under its belt and each one of these songs is a beast on its own…with its own musical character, tone, vibes, rhythm, sounds and experiments…

…the album starts with “Vessels”…and it’s a very good start…the first 30 seconds show the experimental side of Larches, while the rest of the song goes full melodic with strong heavy hitting guitar riffs and powerful beats to boot…

…then changes things drastically up with their following song “Call It Your Artwork”…featuring some Indian tabla rhythms fused with some acoustic guitar licks that plays a more rhythmic role…the song also features some laid-back and mellow pads, with a very fluctuating dynamic range…very ocean waves-like, it’s mesmerizing.

Larches manages to keep the diversity factor extremely high, going from one vibe to a completely different one just like that…while having some elements in common across the whole album…their unique charismatic musical presence and excellent melodic experimentation.

…further into the album, Larches goes into a bit of a groovy/funky realm with their song “Sleeve”, which also features some very rich multi-layered vocals…and some of the spanky-est funky guitar sounds you’ll hear this year.

…they also have a straight-up 100% acoustic song, with vocals and guitar and that’s it…that’s “Best of Everything”…which once again keeps things interesting.

…and speaking of making things interesting, Larches also include a 30-second interlude titled “Untitled” midway through the album…

…talk about experimentation and truly being a unique musical powerhouse.

There are many surprises with Larches’s “Attack of the Telephones”…you’re bound to go through many plot twists with this album, and all of them are very very much welcomed…it’s like watching a David Lynch film, but in music form…

We wish all the best to Larches, they are one of the most unique bands that also have extremely high musicality in them…can’t wait to see what they come up with next…and remember, “Attack of the Telephones” is not to be missed at any cost.
