As I previously mentioned regarding the twist, I truly appreciated how “The Way Down” began. Picture it as the intro to an instrumental rock piece that transports you to an entirely different realm. His authentic vocals, combined with their emotional resonance, are truly remarkable, showcasing his unique singing style. I was captivated by how the track transitions seamlessly within just four minutes; each shift is intentional and executed flawlessly. The atmosphere and effects evoke a sense of nostalgia, adding genuine charm to the overall composition of the song.

White elaborates,“I wanted it to feel the writer is bound for the bottom but somehow that last little bit of fall is the trippiest and brightest. Almost like there’s a fear of the tumultuous fall ending but you want to ride it out because it’s prettiest near the bottom”

Matt C. White showcases his love for musical experimentation in his first single, The Way Down, from the upcoming album ‘A Cosmic Year’. This track features a laid-back groove with vintage fuzz, diverging from his typical hard-driving southern rock style. Despite incorporating elements from the entire record, White’s careful production ensures a cohesive listening experience. If you’re craving for a new rock sound, then I highly recommend this one. Cheers!

Warm up your necks ladies and gents and get ready for an absolute headbanger that we’ll talk about today…get ready for Matt C. White’s “Gag”, released on the 21st of March…and it’s from his upcoming album “Punishers” coming out on the 2nd of May.

The song is fuzzy, heavy, dark, aggressive, explosive…

Matt has done an excellent job in capturing the essence of the whole alt-heavy-rock genre…

He’s actually recorded everything on not just this song…but the whole album.

Matt started playing guitar around when he was 10 years old in North Carolina, where he grew up. He then moved to Brooklyn, New York, storming the music scene by performing at open mics…which led to the birth of his first group project..Dead Seconds.

He recorded 2 albums with Dead with a blues rock direction…then moved on to a more psychedelic rock mood with his next project, “Grandpa Jack”.

He released a self-titled EP with “Grandpa Jack”, then released “GRITS”…which actually garnered acclaim in several established publications including Red Rock Magazine, Big Takeover and more.

What really pushed Matt through his career…spanning multiple groups, several solo projects, being a Keeley Electronics showcase artist….everything spurred out of his distinct musical character, his love of music and musical experimentation…his unique and one of a kind southern sound that he’s well known for…

…a musical force of nature that is coming your way, get ready and let’s dive into the gritty details of Matt’s upcoming song “Gag” from his album Punishers.

…Matt takes our hand with an iconic and establishing intro bluesy rock riff…

…you know something’s coming…

…the drums jump in and kick it up a gear with drums jumping in…and also hyping us for what’s coming next…

The intro takes us into the meat of the song…with an explosive vocal performance that shakes the whole world…

Vocals continue to be the driving force along with the drums and heavy guitar riffs, till it takes you to a drop before the middle point of the song…this drop acts as a breather and also it makes you feel safe…till the next explosive chorus hits you with all of its might.

The guitars, bass and drums hit real hard, and the slap-delayed vocals on top captures the essence of the song and mood…which is actually a very interesting point… because the song talks about a very specific experience of the nightlife…it talks about the concept of the “Punisher”…which is basically the drunk lonely people who’ll corner you in the bar and talk your ears off…and you don’t even want to be there with them…such unique premise…and might I add…very real too.

Matt’s “Gag” is really a bit of several things…alt-rock, energetic punk drum beats but also heavy rock-half-time-drum-drops…

The whole composition of “Gag” keeps the song always exciting for the audience, and it makes you keep waiting what Matt will do with the next verse, chorus or bridge…because you know, he’s preparing some kind of a surprise.

…The guitar riffs are impressive with some blues licks jumping in between very heavy riffs to act as a musical fills…I love that.

Drums, bass, guitars…even the organ in the back…everything along with the vocals…everything works together so well, in a very highly polished explosive package that will appeal to all rock based audiences…and I see it extending even to heavy-listening audiences too.

I was glad to check out Matt’s upcoming song “Gag”…can’t recommend it enough.

Matt, we wish you all the luck in the world, not that you need it with your talent…
