Last year, I had the chance to know the New Zealander progressive rockers Outside In through their single Mushrooms off their debut album ‘Karmatrain,’ now I got another chance to listen to their album and know more about their impressive progressive journey.

Mikey Brown, Adam Tobeck, Jonnie Barnard, Elliott Seung Il Park, and Joe Park were capable in a 12-track experience to take me in an impressive journey indeed represents various elements which you won’t only love their tightness and harmony that can easily be shown through their riffs and song structures but also, their music is capable to deliver such unique diversity and merge of retro psychedelic elements to nowadays modern rock sounds. Frankly, my favorite songs here are many, well, I loved Ferryman, Blue Dragon, Lety Me Go, and Mushrooms, but I loved the rest too, for example, the solo in Echoes and Stepping Stones was really stunning, and I recommend checking Morning Warning drumline, I believe it’s one of the best drum/bass lines that I heard in 2021. In general, the album is one of my favorite progressive albums in 2020/2021. Feel the vibes below, and get ready for such a journey!

Yesterday, the Auckland-based progressive rockers Outside In released their latest single, The Ferryman.

Outside In includes 5 artistic musicians: Mikey Brown (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Adam Tobeck (drums), Elliot II Seung (bass), Joe Park (guitar), and Jonnie Barnard (guitar). Their latest song ‘The Ferryman’ takes you on a journey between the physical world and the spiritual world. When you listen to it you will feel that every note in its right place even if, at first, when the vocal started, it gives me the feeling of pop-rock 90s singing style, and actually, I like that too. Its originality pours out of every note yet the classic progressive influences come across as evident. There is not a second that will not be enjoyed after listening to this physical/spiritual journey.
