Set in a snowless Los Angeles, the song paints a vivid picture of Hollywood’s bustling streets, where our narrator grapples with loneliness despite the crowds. There’s a bittersweet honesty in their contemplation of holiday survival; turning to another drink, hoping for just one small gift to rekindle the magic.

Musically, “Christmas Bush” swings between dive-bar grunge and honky-tonk twang, embodying TruckerBomb’s signature alt-country-meets-hard-rock vibe. Frontman Troy Richardson channels the rugged spirit of truck stops and ’70s country into every line, while the band’s lively instrumentation keeps the tone buoyant. Peruvian guitarist Ursula Lari’s warm rhythms and harmonies shine, complementing Alrick Bills’ precise drumming to craft a sound as layered as the emotions the song conveys.

Known for electrifying live performances from Los Angeles to South America, TruckerBomb are a force on stage, Their November 2023 debut album, Mucho Gusto, showcased their versatility, and “Christmas Bush” proves they’re unafraid to put a fresh spin on seasonal music.

So, whether you’re celebrating under palm trees or snowflakes, this song cuts through the fluff of holiday clichés with heartfelt grit. So, pour yourself a drink, press play, and let TruckerBomb remind you that the holidays don’t have to be perfect, and it’s completely fine!

A band based in Los Angeles, TruckerBomb is a band that play hard rocking, grungy, bluesy music, with gutsy riffs, in the midst of the smell of beer, and a haze of cigarette smoke. Out of place, frontman Troy Richardson is unfazed as he remains eager to cover the sunset strip with his memorable riffs, lyrics, and his band’s heavy, grooving sound, confident that it’s only a matter of time before their music gets picked for a major film.

Next Last Drink has the characteristic sound of 70s classic rock. With writhing, intricate riffs that call to mind those of Jimmy Page, a bass and drum groove so tight, you can basically see Deep Purple bob their heads in appreciation, and an understated vocal performance from Richardson that does an amazing job in keeping a level head along with the flurry of characterful guitars and the meaty sounding bass; as it would have easy to mush up this whole arrangement has the vocals decided to show a little more flourish. The result of this maturity is a song that’s incredibly punchy and busy, but never noisy or overpowering. A masterclass in arranging. Also a masterclass in bass tones.

TruckerBomb’s passion is infectious. You can imagine that playing 70s hard rocking country and Americana to Hollywood dwellers in 2023 might be risky. It is. TruckerBomb knows it, and they are unaffected by it, and that tells me all I need to know about this tight group of musicians, and it gives me all the reasons to love them.

The chorus, on the other hand, has the two voices singing higher notes, the guitar doing an awesome refrain, and the bass line getting even groovier. The synths/keys in the background are what make this ring a bell with Americana so much, as well as the way the vocals are produced. With a vocal line like this one, the track is bound to stay stuck inside your head for days on end. These guys managed to make a track that’s simultaneously Rock, Americana, and “Everything” that fans of those genres look for in an awesome song that is coherent and super well-written.
