Gib’s rampaging pace, embodied by hairy guitar tones and meaty riffs, alongside furious beats and vocals that drip with classic rock charisma, is a pure and simple testament to the enduring spirit of driving, heavy-handed, and anthemic rock.
Guitar-based and juicy, ‘Sonic Assault’ is a song that’s easy to grasp, but difficult to describe in words. Perhaps easier to describe is the song’s fantastic production job. A healthy mix by all means, with overdriven bass supporting everything like an angry pillow with a hard-hitting riff, scruffy guitars straddling the line between sloppiness and lethal precision, and a drum performance that’s fast and powerful.
‘Sonic Assault’ is one of the strongest displays of pure, unadulterated rock to have graced my ears in a long while, reaffirming my beliefs that good rock music have absolutely nothing to do with musical complexity, and everything to do with a particular attitude that you either have or you don’t.
