Los Angeles artist Shelita is releasing “Sailors” tomorrow, January 16th, the fifth single from her EP Into the Depths, coming early 2026. The track is an ocean love anthem about two people choosing each other again and again, even as life and emotion feel unpredictable like the sea. Love is an active choice, a shared journey through emotional tides where two people stay connected even when the world feels unsteady. After a skydiving accident in Seychelles, Shelita went through years of recovery, surgeries, and isolation. In those depths, she found two paths to healing: freediving and music. The ocean taught her that waves always return, love always returns. “Sailors” continues the Into The Depths journey, where water, healing, and courage are central themes inspired by her real-life story of going from a wheelchair to walking, running, and traveling the world.
Musically, this song stands out from what we have heard so far from Shelita. The rhythmic textures here are more grand and borrow from the Trip-hop style’s break beats and atmospheric style. Shelita‘s vocals morph seamlessly to fit with this energy. The most exciting component of the song is definitely the drums and how they interact with the constantly cycling pad sounds to create wave-like sounds to drive home that imagery of two people sailing across the infinite ocean of life and constantly finding their way back to each other somehow through the troubled waters.
Already recognized by NPR, Billboard, and Forbes, Shelita‘s crafted songs that balance emotional depth with adventurous spirit. “Sailors” captures the feeling of navigating emotional storms and trusting that love will find safe harbor again. The EP is shaping up to be more than a collection of songs that follow a cookie cutter template. Every song is created only to serve a story, which is what great artists do.
