Some goodbyes are easier said than done. Between the pride of walking away and the vulnerability of admitting you still care, there is often a conversation left unfinished. Southampton-based songwriter Songs of Solomon explores that emotional in-between on “Come To Your Senses”, joining forces with award-winning South African vocalist CheraLee for a pop-rock duet about lingering feelings, mutual accountability and the possibility of finding your way back to someone.

The single combines energetic pop-rock arrangements, rich acoustic textures and contrasting vocal performances to tell a story from two perspectives. Rather than presenting heartbreak as a one-sided confession, the song gives both characters room to express their frustration, uncertainty and attachment. The upbeat musical direction adds an interesting contrast to the emotional tension at its centre.

At the heart of the song is its defining exchange: “Come to your senses, I’ll come to mine.” What could easily have sounded like an accusation becomes an admission of shared responsibility. Neither person gets to take the moral high ground; both must reconsider their pride and acknowledge their part in the conflict. It is this mutual perspective that gives the song more substance than a straightforward plea for reconciliation.

For Songs of Solomon, the musical identity of Southampton songwriter Solomon Machanick, storytelling is central to his work. Drawing on dark country, Americana, folk and roots rock, his songwriting explores love, loss, faith and resilience. Here, he brings that narrative sensibility into a more energetic pop-rock setting.

CheraLee proves a fitting counterpart, bringing her experience across country, pop, blues and rock to the collaboration. Her expressive delivery gives the other side of the story its own character, making the duet feel like an actual conversation rather than a one-sided confession. Produced by André Hurter at Montana Studios, the arrangement allows both voices to find their place.

Between the things left unsaid and the feelings that refuse to disappear, there is always the possibility of another conversation. “Come To Your Senses” by Songs of Solomon, featuring CheraLee, finds its footing somewhere in that space, offering a warm, spirited take on love, pride and the uncertain beauty of second chances.
