With three decades of making music together up their sleeves, the duo Wishpenny dropped their 2nd independent record Day After Dark on the 23rd of December 2023. Collaborating with Dan Seymour on bass and Mario Davidson on trombone, the couple Brian and Regina Russel embark on another journey mixing their influences with their very own creative touch as they invite us into their unique world on Day After Dark. Let me tell you more about it.

Wishpenny opened Day After Dark with warm melodies and mellow driving grooves, promising a chill, swaying record ahead right from the title track. Day After Dark has catchy expressive vocals, dynamic guitars with a deep touching tone, and killer mood-boosting conversation between the guitars, vocals, and trombone that instantly gets you moving. Glide and Cover comes next with a subtle psychedelic mood within its floating flow, creating smooth dynamic shifts that softly carry the listeners through its organic twists and turns carefully crafted with a groovy entertaining bassline and irresistible hooking chords. Wishpenny keeps pushing forward with their soothing warm sound on Better Than We Found, laying heartfelt melodies that hit deep while keeping their sincere, full-of-life vibes flowing and lifting their listeners’ spirits. Close magnifies Day After Dark’s jazzy twists with the trombone’s return and its haunting vocal melody, all alongside the Wishpenny signature guitars and groove-oriented flow that set the perfect chilling mood as we reach the center of the record. Not About Love hits next lifting the record’s dynamics again, boosting the mood, and turning the energy levels one step up. The guitar arpeggios walk in perfect harmony with the chords and are topped by charismatic sharp vocal melody, keeping the listeners on board and following every sound shift and word said, in an uplifting hypnotizing flow and clear layering where every element is well heard and understood.

Wishpenny steers towards a more raw, stripped-down sound in Escape Velocity and Step into the Sun, using a laidback straightforward structure and a great sense of melody, they created a touching mood with their emotionally authentic sound and catchy hooks to construct a bonding singalong moments that I believe would result in some amazing moments when played live. Believe ends the record on a high note with its open sound and bright melodies. It has a colorful flow with a mix of old-school rock n roll and country that lays a unique groove over its subtly energetic core, engaging the listeners in an uplifting experience and leaving them playing Day After Dark again from the top.

Day After Dark is a soulful, emotional journey carefully crafted by Wishpenny, showing off their seasoned writing skills, attention to detail, and well-knowledge of their sound and direction as they stayed focused delivering the perfect mood and vibes without compromising the record’s balanced dynamic flow and authentic sound. Looking forward to more from Wishpenny, keep on rocking guys. Cheers!

Mixing their diverse influences with their own dark side, Dirty Power offers a deeply cutting piece that’ll shoot straight into your heart. Let me tell you more about it.

Dirty Power opened Farewell with a melancholic melody and dark-touching vocals, promising a deeply emotional tune with heart-hitting melodies and a mellow flow. The sharp acoustic guitars led a smooth build-up as Farewell progressed with escalating dynamics towards a heavier sound while keeping its touching sound uncompromised, creating a heart-hitting atmospheric sound that organically shapes an unbreakable bond with Dirty Power’s fans. Farewell has a streaming flow that softly carries the listeners throughout its shifts, keeping them on board with its dynamic nature while introducing new textures and layers along the way supporting its soothing melodies.

Farewell is a solid, well-written, and produced tune by Dirty Power, it shows their clear vision and well-knowledge of their sound and direction and most importantly, their sense of mood as they managed to create a hooking structure with deeply touching sound that came out naturally with no overdoing, just three guys with good writing skills and great musicianship. Looking forward to more from Dirty Power, keep on rocking guys. Cheers!

As they keep on teasing their upcoming debut record Best Days, the rocking supergroup The Project are teaming up with singer Mykele Hill on their latest single What’s It Going To Take that was out on the 19th of January 2024. Bringing back the real essence and energy of rock n roll’s golden era, The Project are taking us on an authentic guitar-driven, irresistibly engaging experience. Let me tell you more about it.

The Project’s What’s It Going To Take takes an 80s rock ballad approach with powerful, hooking vocals and a slowly cooked progression, moving forward with heart-hitting vocal harmonies and fluid streaming melodies organically crafting an escalating structure with an open sound and smooth catchy dynamics. What’s It Going To Take has a subtle, groovy bassline that goes hand in hand with its entertaining jazzy drumline, both combined with the rocking guitar work and Mykele Hill’s captivating, charismatic vocals created an instant classic that sent me back to hard rock’s glory days. The Project’s detailed guitar work and perfect tone had me hooked and following its sound shifts, maintaining a warm sound as it freely moved from heavy riffs to melodic folky ones without compromising the song’s mellow emotional core.

What’s It Going To Take is an extremely well-written and arranged tune by The Project that clearly shows their deep rocking roots and high attention to detail. It’s a heartfelt ballad that takes over the listeners’ senses, leaving them playing it over and over as it slips into their “On Repeat” playlist. I’ll definitely be looking forward to more from The Project, keep on rocking. Cheers!

With deep roots in 90s rock, Meat in Space is dropping Ruby Tourmaline on the 24th of January 2024. All written, performed, recorded, and mixed by multi-instrumentalist Shawn Stedman who used a recording Tascam 388 8-track reel-to-reel machine to get his authentic sound, Ruby Tourmaline takes you into a sonic journey that I believe will end with it on your “On Repeat” playlist. Let me tell you more about it.

Meat in Space opened Ruby Tourmaline with raw old-school acoustic guitars leading to a dreamy anthemic verse with catchy fluid vocals, setting an engaging mood with a psychedelic touch. Meat in Space keeps adding layers and elements as the song moves forward, creating a deeper multi-layered sound with beautiful, smooth layering and mixing that keeps his authentic warm sound intact while allowing the listeners to enjoy an extremely melodic experience as he moves forward with a streaming smooth flow that softly carries the listeners throughout the song’s interesting twists and turns.

Ruby Tourmaline is a beautifully connected tune with lovely melodies and an overall dreamy mood that shows Meat in Space’s seasoned writing skills and attention to detail, he managed to produce a deep-sounding, warm mix that perfectly fits the song’s flow and solidly proves his clear vision and direction.
