With the original only released in “Multiplicity” in 2022, Apeiron Bound returns with a reinterpretation of “Firmament”. Released in June, “Firmament: Redux” introduces the new through the familiar, and views the familiar through the lens of the new. The new take on the song introduces new band members: singers Keith “Tank” McDowell & John Galloway, as well as Cody Letts on guitars and Kristopher Huffman on drums, all of whose marks are visible on the re-release when you listen closely.
The emotional charge of John Galloway’s harshly clean voice is layered with McDowell’s power metal vocals, the latter adding a sense of urgency and weight to the cosmic wandering, a reminder that a search for our place in the cosmos is no trivial matter. The alternation between powerful, emotionally charged, and melancholic vocals ornament the pacing of the song. The guitar and drum move mercilessly, only to halt back and begin anew, layering the meaning of the song with its musical equivalent.

“Firmament: Redux” is only the first in a series of reimaginings that will be released in the coming months, a project that aims to put the present and the past side-by-side.
Apeiron Bound’s philosophy isn’t for a relentless forward march without looking back; instead, it’s one that speaks for the possibilities that can arise from taking a step back every once in a while; true to their thematic introspection with the universe as a whole, this new project proves that this introspection starts small. As they look at the universe, they simultaneously re-examine, contemplate, and reinterpret themselves and their music.
