Australian alternative rock ensemble Highroad No. 28 has unveiled their third single, “C.Esp,” distributed globally through The Orchard (Sony Music). This track immerses listeners in a brooding soundscape characterized by emotionally charged vocals, cinematic guitar work, and resonant bass lines, while addressing profound themes of internal turmoil and self-redemption.

Frontman and songwriter Andrew JC assumes responsibility for all instrumentation and vocals on this release, marking a transitional phase for the band as they prepare a new live lineup for performances in 2026. “C.Esp” serves as the third precursor to their forthcoming third album, The Will to Endure, following “Ache” (November 1, 2025) and “Thistroubledsoul” (November 28, 2025). Recorded at Sing Sing Recording Studios in Melbourne and mixed by emerging producer James Taplin, the single exemplifies the band’s shift toward a more introspective, mature aesthetic, rooted in authentic personal experiences rather than prevailing trends.

After more than a decade of relative dormancy, Highroad No. 28 returns with deliberate intent, channeling a darker, melodic alternative rock style that prioritizes atmospheric depth and emotional authenticity. The single is accessible on all major streaming platforms, with an accompanying music video slated for release later this month.

Formed in late 1998, Highroad No. 28 rapidly emerged as a prominent force in Australia’s heavy rock landscape. Their initial EPs, Obscure Madness (1999) and Dynamic Introspection (2002), demonstrated a willingness to confront anguish and despair, underpinned by an unyielding spirit of perseverance. Between 2003 and 2005, the band gained traction through rigorous live engagements, leading to the debut album Unsteady and Steady State on December 8, 2005. This work expanded their sonic palette with enhanced melody, effects, and textures, balancing intensity with reflection.

In 2006, extensive touring further strengthened their presence. Pre-production for the second album commenced in 2007, culminating in Stumbling to Divinity on August 14, 2008—a thematic odyssey blending emotive melodies, ambient electronics, and dynamic rhythms. After a final series of shows, the project entered a hibernation from 2012 to 2024, occasionally resurfacing with reworked demos and visuals.

The resurgence in 2025 reflects Highroad No. 28‘s enduring commitment to resilience and artistic integrity. The Will to Endure, set for release on December 29, 2025, promises a layered, emotionally forthright chapter in their narrative.
