The Lazz returns with “The Crown,” a dark, cinematic modern-metal track that begins Act IV: The Return, the next chapter in the project’s ongoing Jungian-inspired concept series.
Following the transformation and shadow integration explored in the previous cycle, The
Crown focuses on what happens after personal growth, when self-knowledge itself can
become another form of ego. The song examines the danger of mistaking survival, insight,
and transformation for superiority or completion. Its central image, the crown, represents
both genuine inner sovereignty and the temptation to turn wisdom into status.
Musically, The Crown blends groove metal, melodic metalcore, djent, thrash, and power-metal influences, built around heavy syncopated riffs, aggressive rhythmic movement, and contrasting male and female vocals. The result is both forceful and cinematic, balancing weight and atmosphere with a strong melodic identity.
The accompanying music video expands the concept through two parallel protagonists who independently rise into positions of symbolic power before confronting the same realization: transformation is not a finish line. Their journeys ultimately converge only after both relinquish the crowns they had mistaken for proof of completion.
Created, directed, edited, and produced by Ben “The Lazz” Lazzaro, the video combines AI-assisted visual production with extensive human-directed editing and post-production. The Crown launches a four-song cycle exploring the question at the heart of Act IV: The Return: how does someone remain whole after transformation while returning to an imperfect, fragmented world?
At its core, the song arrives at a simple conclusion:

“The Lazz” is a high-concept metal project led by Ben Lazzaro, a veteran composer and
guitarist with over 40 years of performance experience (est. 1982). Lazzaro is not only a
seasoned musician but a formally trained visual artist, holding an Associate of Science in
Visual Communication (Honors) and bringing 13 years of professional experience as a 3D
Digital Artist in the video game industry. This unique intersection of formal design theory
and legacy musicianship allows The Lazz to bridge the gap between human expression and cutting-edge technology. The project explores Jungian psychological themes, Shadow and
Persona, through a “Hybrid-Human” production engine that ensures every release is a high- fidelity, multi-media experience. All songs music and lyrics written, composed, arranged and mastered by Benjamin Lazzaro. Original human-performed guitar and bass tracking, integrated with a modified generative engine used for vocals, drums, effects and overall sonics pre-mastering.
