GUILDFORD, UK — Guildford-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Zachary Mason announces the release of his new single, “Man Of The Universe” — a joyful, riff-driven blast of space rock, psychedelic rock, and classic rock that marks both a thrilling new chapter in his musical journey and a collaboration he describes as a genuine privilege.
Producing the single is Stuart Epps — a titan of the British music industry with more than fifty years of experience and a track record that includes Led Zeppelin, Elton John, George Harrison, Oasis, and Robbie Williams, among many others. Epps also contributes drums, bass, organ, and backing vocals to the track, bringing the full weight of his musicianship and expertise to a song that is, at its heart, enormous fun.
The story of how the collaboration came together speaks to the kind of happy, audacious leap that defines the best moments in any artist’s career. Zachary reached out to Stuart Epps in early June 2026 with three demos. Uncertain of the response, he was delighted to receive praise for all three — and even more delighted when Epps chose “Man Of The Universe” as the one he wanted to produce. As Zachary later told Epps himself, it was a real privilege to work with a “man of the music world” on a song called “Man Of The Universe.”
“Man Of The Universe” harks back to the golden age of pulp science fiction magazines — a gloriously vivid tale of a man who roams the cosmos like he owns it, flying a powerful spaceship, fighting off aliens and space pirates, and accumulating devoted admirers across the galaxy along the way. It is the kind of song that makes you grin before the first chorus is out — a bundle of infectious, unapologetic fun delivered through a lens of space rock psychedelia that will feel familiar to fans of Zachary’s earlier sci-fi EP, 5…4…3…2…1…
The track’s combination of classic rock energy, psychedelic texture, and tongue-in-cheek storytelling gives it a timeless quality — music that could comfortably live alongside the influences Zachary holds closest: Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and The Beatles.
At 29, Zachary Mason has quietly assembled one of the more remarkable independent music stories currently being written in the UK. Since the spring of 2021, working from a recording kit gifted by a relative, he has created between 200 and 250 demo tracks — across genres, across moods, and with a restless creative instinct that refuses to settle into a single lane. That prolific output has found its way into the world in meaningful ways.
His music has been covered by Rolling Stone En Español, The Big Takeover, TJPL News, 1111CR3W, Cage Riot, M.E.I. News, and many others. An interview appeared in SPIN Magazine in 2025. His single “I Wish Humans Were Made In A Factory…” reached the semi-finals of the ISC 2025. “I’ll Get Through” charted at No. 41 and No. 93 on the indie radio charts in 2024.
