LONDON, UK — Hot on the heels of her gutsy reimagining of TLC’s 1999 classic “Unpretty,” rising alt-rock singer-songwriter Arabella Lucia delivers another bold, guitar-driven anthem with “Steal My Shimmer,” out 23rd October. It is an electrifying declaration of refusing to make yourself smaller to accommodate somebody else’s insecurity, and it offers the latest glimpse into her debut EP, due 13th November.
“Steal My Shimmer stemmed from learning that not everyone will celebrate your wins, recognise your skills or acknowledge your merit. It’s an anthem of defiance dedicated to anyone who’s ever been told to shrink their spirit to accommodate the insecurities and limiting projections of others.” — Arabella Lucia

“Steal My Shimmer” was sparked by a personal encounter with a male musician whose ego was bruised by her ability. He questioned whether her Gibson SG really belonged to her, or to her father, and made passive-aggressive attempts to undermine her playing. Rather than internalise it, Lucia turned the imbalance into a biting statement of defiance, delivered with a knowing wink.
The song speaks to anyone who has felt pressured to downplay their talent, ambition, confidence, or success to make someone else more comfortable. For Lucia, that message carries extra weight in guitar music, where her musicianship is woven into the fabric of the record itself. Towering guitars, punk attitude, powerhouse vocals, and a sharp, anthemic chorus turn the experience of being underestimated into a defiant celebration of self-belief.
The track sits within Lucia’s self-coined “Rockstar Princess” world, a style that pairs a feminine aesthetic with pure punk attitude. It is an empowering statement in an often male-dominated scene, and a nod to women in rock.
As the final single from the forthcoming EP, which explores agency, resilience, rebellion, vulnerability, and the tension between fragility and defiance, “Steal My Shimmer” marks the point where that journey turns unapologetically outward-facing. She knows what she can do, she knows what she is worth, and she refuses to make herself smaller for anyone.
Arriving 13th November, Lucia’s five-track debut EP is a characterful, guitar-driven exploration of reclaiming your power, from identity, ambition, and vulnerability to everything in between. It moves through personal stories and relatable situations, from internalised judgement to controlling relationships.
The collection includes:
- “Hostage You Call Baby”, her debut single, a fearless and emotionally charged alt-pop-meets-rock release that confronts domestic abuse through a dark, cinematic first-person narrative
- “Unpretty”, her edgy cover of TLC’s hit, reimagined through a distinctly rock’n’roll lens and revisiting themes of beauty standards, identity, and self-worth
- “Steal My Shimmer”
- An intimate, haunting acoustic reworking of “Hostage You Call Baby”, stripped back to the form in which Lucia can command a room live
- One more track, still to be revealed
