Americana music genre is quite unique. It blends folk, country, bluegrass, blues, gospel, with roots music, and transcends beyond being just one genre of music. Showcasing the wide range of the genre is the debut solo album “Home” by London-based artist Alex Uhlmann.
As a musical director on The Voice Italy, this debut album is not the beginning of Uhlmann’s musical career, as he has played at many venues around London, along with winning music awards in the UK. With a headline tour in Russia, this venture only goes to show his musical genius in writing and performing.

“Fading Away” merges time periods in this downtempo single,” shared Uhlmann. “The Video tells the tragic story of Ukrainian ballet dancer Irina Hordiienko, who was invited in February 2022 by the Ukrainian Academy of Ballet in Milan to attend a two week stage. While in Italy however, the war in Ukraine started and Irina and her mother have not been able to come home to reunite with their family.”
The album title track “Home” starts off with the soft keyboard, before the harmonies of Uhlmann’s vocals radiate and echo in the background of your headphones or bounce off the walls if you’re playing the music on speakers. Very similar to Coldplay’s Chris Martin’s vocal range, Uhlmann expresses that home is where the heart is, and home is where he’s going.
“Fading Away” takes a symphonic turn with a strong beginning that fades into acoustic riffs that compliments the echo of Uhlmann’s voice so much. Unlike the song’s title, the track doesn’t easily fade away from your mind after it beats its final tune.
As for “Only A Minute”, there are two versions of the song on the album. One of them is the original, and the other is the remix. The original features a high-pitched range by Uhlmann, with his signature intricate lyrical maneuvers, while the remix carries an upbeat vibe to it that takes the song to new heights.
“Home” is an album that has you throw your head back and indulge in the lyrical and musical genius that Uhlmann has been able to create for the world to hear. An interesting listen, with a lingering effect that lasts with you way after you hit stop. Stream now!
