London-based rock band, WISE, has achieved 20k Spotify streams per month for over four years, with 1.7 million for their single “SO SERIOUS.”

In 2023, they released 12 tracks in 12 months, tackling heavy topics such as drug issues, money theft, and member disappearance.

Their latest release, the album titled “Whispers of Woe,” features 14 tracks on the standard version and 16 tracks on the deluxe version along with over 100 pieces of art created from the songs..however, the review copy we received only had 12 tracks, that must mean that we’ll also get two surprises when the album comes out, which is actually great…’cause we wanted even more from The Survival Code.

The band has been going strong for over 10 years and continues to raise the bar and this couldn’t be more true with “Whispers of Woe” being released.

…speaking of which, “Whispers of Woe” is many things…it’s rock, it’s alternative and it has pop elements…it’s a rich and creamy musical treat that will stay with you for time to come.

The Survival Code is a musical duo comprising of Gary McGuinness (guitar, vox) and Simon Hartop (drums, vox)…and between these two awesome musicians are a lot of melodies, rhythms, and excellent songs…

They kick off the album on a very powerful note with the first song “The Heart Will Bleed”, filled to the brim with a powerful alternative rock sound, they really flip the proverbial table over and just unleashes alt-rock music heaven onto audiences…I wish I could see this one performed live.

…taking it a notch down with energy, but staying strong with the anthemic element, The Survival Code hits us with “Never Knew You Existed”…iconic guitar riff and scale changes that instantly stick to the mind, with an excellent vocal melody to go along perfectly and complements all other elements on the song.

…speaking of iconic stuff…” Sum of all our Parts” has got to be a song with one of the most iconic intros ever…

The album stays musically powerful and aggressive, however, there are songs that put a little spin of diversity like “Choreography and Chaos”…and it is exactly like the name would suggest, it has both the aggressive and the emotional sides…and blends them perfectly and seamlessly together.

“Can’t Be Explained” is one song that reminded me of a time when music and song was really something else, something more substantial and iconic…it gave me Deftones vibes and I was really grateful…such an amazing song.

The whole time we’ve been experiencing “Whispers of Woe” we’ve been mesmerized…it’s an absolute joy and it’s not to be missed at all costs.

Wishing all the best to the musical duo The Survival Code…and we hope to hear more and more from them in 2024.

Cheers!
