London’s Tom Minor released “Change It!” on Boxing Day, December 26th, paving the way for his sophomore album Ten New Toe-Tappers for Shoplifting & Self-Mutilation, due out in early 2026. The album will be bookended by this single and “Future Is an F Word”, released less than a year ago. Tom Minor hails from London N1 and draws inspiration from indie rock, new wave, punk, power pop, psychedelic and garage rock, soul and R&B.
After years of writing for other artists, he’s now focusing on his own brand of existential indie, gathering praise across the blogosphere for his debut album Eleven Easy Pieces on Anger & Disappointment and subsequent releases like “Expanding Universe”, “The Manic Phase”, “The Loneliest Person on Earth”, “Next Stop Brixton”, and “Bring Back the Good Ol’ Boys”. “Change It!” features Johnny Dalston on guitar and was produced by Teaboy Palmer, also known as The Basher of Belsize Park.
This vintage soul-influenced indie rock rebel yell is a call-to-arms for anyone feeling that their full potential has yet to be realised and holding onto hope that there might just be a future ahead after all. The gloves are off, the guards are down. Lyrically, it’s a mantra of determination. Musically, the track carries the vintage soul influence Tom Minor has been known for, blending it with garage rock energy. The guitar melodies harmonise with the vocals, creating a beautiful earworm of a melody, and Palmer’s production keeps everything tight and focused.
“Change It!” fits right into Tom Minor‘s growing catalogue while pushing toward something more immediate and urgent. If this is what Ten New Toe-Tappers for Shoplifting & Self-Mutilation has in store, early 2026 should be interesting.
