It has been three years since we showcased the Brighton-based artist Hybrid Kid, but his music remains truly unforgettable for us. Today, I am excited to introduce his latest track, “Cry,” which demonstrates remarkable skill for fans of acoustic music blended with rock. Let’s explore more details below.

Danny Lloyd is the creative force behind the solo project band, Hybrid Kid. While the project band is celebrated for its energetic garage rock sound, today’s release highlights a stunning acoustic performance. Firstly, his vocal style stands out with its unique blend of raw emotion. The fingerpicking technique is remarkable, and the riffs are captivating. I thoroughly enjoyed the melody and the intricately layered vocals. For the solo, I appreciated how he embraced “simplicity” as the core element.

Hybrid Kid‘s Cry is a powerful anthem designed to help you navigate through life’s setbacks, conveying a message of strength and perseverance. As he explained in the press kit, “It’s a song about overcoming disappointments. It’s about picking yourself up, brushing yourself off, and trying again.”

In my opinion, this is the finest acoustic rock track I’ve encountered in 2025 thus far. Cheers to that!
