Deliciously syncopated and heavy, Sour Blood’s ‘Damaging Control’ is an absolute treat. Masterfully done and balanced to no end, this is a gorgeously crafted piece of modern hard rock that is made to last.
An alternative rock outfit based in Poznan in Poland, Sour Blood are an exceptionally gifted bunch, a trio to be precise. Their sound on their latest single ‘Damaging Control’ checks all the boxes that make rock such a compelling style of music, from off-kilter and invigorating beats to edgy and hairy riffs delivered with some outstanding punch, to a generally addictive attitude to the solid set of riffs that call the song home.
‘Damaging Control’ is home to multiple alternative rock cliches of course, but each of them is delivered with such a fresh outlook that makes the listening experience readily gripping. The off-balance and syncopated beat is so novel and unusual, the overdriven riffs are balanced by ethereal and breezy synths, the vocals are approachable, but the words are deep, this song is really well balanced. The production is exquisite too, with a powerful mix that does not shy away from rock music’s required hammer-fisted heaviness, yet delivers them with an imperceptible elegance that results in a mature sound.
All in all, Sour Blood are showcasing themselves as truly gifted artists who know and are quite passionate about the sort of music they are all about. ‘Damaging Control’ is a song made with love.
