American independent singer-songwriter and producer Dante Shivers shares a long-shelved song that has finally found its moment with the release of “Changes.”
The track began in London after Shivers met a ballerina through a mutual friend. Walking her home one evening, the two talked about life, travel, their dreams, and how difficult it can be to pursue the lives we imagine for ourselves. Later, while she slept, Shivers lay awake staring at the moon through her window, her ballet shoes hanging nearby.
Inspired by that night, he began writing “Changes” in London and finished the lyrics after returning to New York City, only to shelve the song for nearly fifteen years. Now traveling the world on a journey to rediscover himself, Shivers finally completed the recording in Thailand. A song originally written by a young man wondering whether he would ever pursue the life he dreamed about was ultimately finished while he was doing exactly that.
