The Baby Goats’s ‘Electricity’ is a perfectly dynamic cut of electropop, infused with inventive guitars, and a heartful vocal part, delivered with so much power that it makes the song come alive.
Hailing from San Fernando Valley in California, The Baby Goats are a band, and ‘Electricity’ is the second song off their debut album of the same title. ‘Electricity’ is a driving song with a tight groove and a roomy mix that holds roots firmly in electronica. With its searing synths and energetic delivery, ‘Electricity’ is a song that will get your blood pumping.
Fronted by singer and keyboardist Chance, The Baby Goats are lucky to have a frontman as compelling as he is. His characterful yells are perfectly full of drive, but Chance’s ace is in fact a stellar range and control, which he displays in one instance on ‘Electricity’, immediately transforming the song to the disco-crazed 80s for a moment. The composition is simplistic and is mostly based on the gritty guitars Lance provides, Chance’s heartful delivery of the few words, and Greg’s beats keeping everything in sync. A few lead melodies are introduced on the synth, and they are spacey and alien enough, in texture and in notes, to mark the song with a certain space-age vibe, in spite of its decidedly vintage undertones.
‘Electricity’ got us perfectly excited for The Baby Goats’s upcoming debut. While never claiming to be groundbreaking, the trio promises fun and vibes in tightly written, performed, and produced tracks, and that is all that really matters.
