In the heart of the Louisiana metal/hardcore scene, DECOY has carved out a niche that stays true to its roots. Their ferocious vocals, aggressive and edgy guitars and hard hitting low end define a sound that’s as relentless as it is raw…and now they’ve hit the world with their tsunami of an EP titled “Re:Selection”.
Since their explosive debut in the summer of 2017, DECOY has meticulously honed their craft, transforming into a veritable powder keg of undetonated energy. With influences ranging from the formidable Hatebreed and Converge to the visceral Vein and All Shall Perish, DECOY is on a rapid ascent to stardom. This quintet is about to break into the national touring circuit, bringing their intense, high-octane performances to a broader audience.
…and speaking of the quintet, let’s take this chance to get to know the brilliant minds behind DECOY…
Jonah Smith – Vocals
Matt Rumfellow – Guitar
Bobby Burnette – Guitar
Chris Rumfellow – Bass
Lucien Champton – Drums
This EP contains 3 blood pumping tracks…
Starting with “Personality Program”…such an incredible intro to this trilogy, a groundbreaking heavy riffing and unhinged track…
…moving into “Smg”…a darker sounding yet as heavy as the first song, but even crazier…the intro to the track is monumental and will always be instantly recognizable for ages to come…the way the drums are arranged and intertwined with the beautifully dissonant guitar riffs…tasty…
…and last but not least, the third track “Natural Selection” takes a very fresh direction…it’s more musical, but in a very unique and weird way…it plays with the guitars like they are synthesizers…in a way…it’s fresh and doesn’t sound like anything else.
DECOY has managed to establish themselves as a mountainous powerhouse of metal…and we’re sure that there is so much more to come out of these brilliant minds.
Wishing DECOY all the best in the world, they deserve it and much more. Cheers!
