Seattle-based singer, songwriter, producer and pianist Audri has once more released an epic EP titled “Sugar For The Flies”…after accumulating more than 1.7 million streams on Spotify since 2020, she’s back to reach new musical heights.

Along with members Sawyer Thomspon on guitars, Giovanni Recchi on drums and Elliot Austin on bass and piano, Phillip Peterson on cello and Victoria Parker on the violin and viola, Audri is taking a more rock-focused approach with “Sugar For The Flies” and decided to take over the rock world.

All the album tracks were written and produced by Audri and everything was recorded at Robert Lang Studio and Studio Litho while the mixing was done by Chris Rahm and mastering by Rachel Field.

Having a vision and a specific concept for this album, Audri wanted to talk about the theme of “two sides of a coin”, or in layman terms, how things are not always as they appear…and for things conceptual direction, Audri wanted to go more rock…and she did…and what an awesome rockin’ job she did.

“Sugar For The Flies” is comprised of 4 highly musical songs and decides to start the action with the song “Sensational”…which tells the story of a journalist working hard to bring down a corrupt conglomerate…however as the song and story progress, the intentions of the journalist aren’t as pure as they seemed at the beginning…

“Sensational” takes several directions and creates a musical melting pot, creating a musical-like performance and mixes it with rock guitars and drums…while maintaining a very strong storytelling mood, the song is quite upbeat with a dark twist that shines through when needed.

Advancing to the second song “Black Out”…Audri decides to take a less energetic pace, while still maintaining two of the most iconic concepts she has across the EP…one, maintaining the musical-like approach, two, maintaining the rock-focused sound that she choose as the direction…and once again, Audri takes a real-life subject and takes it on through a musical filter…this time, she talks about trauma, anger issues and coping mechanisms…

Going into the third song “Girl In Blue” Audri decides to riff it through…with such an iconic guitar riff and an extremely catchy vocal melody, Audri catches us off guard and gives us a very huge sounding anthemic rock story that takes the idea of ‘i told you so’ when a friend’s relationship crumbles, and a friend who always advises against this relationship…once more, Audri hits a very real nerve.

The EP ends with “Angel In The Grey”, once more taking us back to the fast paced energy of the first song…the melody and vocal flow here is special and very fun to sing along to, I think this will have a special connection with the audiences when played live…I’d love to see that.

The musical progression of this song especially is so rock and so classical…an anthemic hybrid that really deserves to be the ending highlight of the EP.

“Sugar For The Flies” is a highly recommended musical experience…we wish Audri all the best in life, we can’t wait to see what she comes up with next…and what kind of stories she will be telling us.

Cheers!
