“Fire and Tears” make their debut with a self-titled track of epic proportions. A classic tale of love in a war-torn world. The song paints a vivid picture of the horrors of cityscapes turned to ash, fire, and brimstone, and explores how love can keep us sane in such difficult times and give us the hope and power to make it through to the other side.
It also explores the theme of rebirth with evocative lyrics like “Fire and tears in the nights we were born”. I think this suggests that the two characters were reborn from this hardship or perhaps were born into it and persevered through it with their love. In my opinion, the lyrics are the best part of this song.

Musically, it still stands out as a really well-written and structured song. Big, epic sound straight out of Sabaton’s playbook. And the guitar solo actually surprised me with how melodic it was. The production quality is stellar, and the arrangement and instrumentation of the song is great and do enough without getting in the way of the dramatic story the vocal performance tells.
Songwriter Oleg Ospennikov managed to create something genuinely moving with “Fire and Tears” and even though he does incorporate AI elements into it still feels authentic to the genre and the thematic storytelling still comes through effectively.
