Light and Dark…
Calm and Eruption…
Two opposites…
Emotions run wild, mountains of energy…
..if you would tell me to paint a picture of ARRAYS’ latest single “Forget Fast”…that would be what’s on my canvas.
This is the second single from JP’s upcoming album PATIENCE WAY.
ARRAY is basically the labor of passion and love from New Zealand’s’ Auckland Musician/Producer JP Carroll.
JP is one of the very few that earns the title “jack of all trades, master of all”…he is a singer, songwriter, composer, producer, audio engineer, multi-instrumentalist, with all what that word entails from guitars to drums…
…the amount of talent and mastery of different musical aspects is simply unbelievable when it comes to JP…
When I was watching the music video for “Forget Fast”, I saw a 4 piece rock/metal band perform it….an awesome drummer, a hard-riffing guitarist, a soaring vocalist, a tight bassist…
…then I saw what my mind wasn’t believing…it’s all JP!
…c’mon man, you’re making the rest of us look bad…kidding aside, it was simply brilliant.
Another point I have to mention is the quality of sound….top notch.
Speaking of what JP can do…JP’s production skills have earned him a spot in the top 40 NZ Rock chart placements, as well as being anointed as ‘one to watch’ by the NZ Official Music Charts…we’d agree and also put him under the same ‘one to watch’ list, that’s for sure.
Well, why don’t we get a feel of what JP’s “Forget Fast” will do to us upon hearing it? Let’s jump into the meat of it.
“Forget Fast” starts with a bang…
The down tuned, heavy, djenty intro riff along with this drum line and fill…iconic.
…it goes into a very calm and composed part…for a couple of seconds…to trick us, and it succeeds…
It goes from that calmness to a punishing high octane riff with screaming vocals…
That’s the same intro riff but with vocals this time around…love that structure.
From there the song goes into a more lighter side of the metal sound, with a more uplifting tone and essence to it…
This part serves as a complete opposite emotion to the main dark riff…it makes the transition much awaited and anticipated…
…I love me a breakdown…
And that is basically what happens in this track, it’s a very melodic, heavy and dark place for the ultimate breakdown…
Everything screams quality and talent with this song.
There is nothing one could say to give JP his credit, but he deserves a lot…a truly dedicated artist with nothing can stop him.
JP, we absolutely loved your craftsmanship, talent and musical creativity and will be on the lookout for the rest of the upcoming album PATIENCE WAY…you deserve all the best in the world…and a bit more.
Cheers!
