Edie Yvonne’s music is captivating whenever she picks her acoustic guitar. A superbly talented young talent, when Edie Yvonne isn’t writing angsty punkish riffs she crafts haunting and sophisticated folk pop, and ‘I Might’ is exactly that.

A Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter, at 16 years old, Edie Yvonne is talented way beyond her years. Truly gifted. 2023’s ‘In the Rain’ has been one of the year’s folk pop highlights, and 2024’s ‘Burn’ was Yvonne dreaming up an indie pop stunner that cemented her name as a versatile songwriter with apt range. ‘I Might’ is the title of Yvonne’s latest single. A haunting piece of brooding chamber pop that’s evenly distributed between being terrifying and whimsical. An outstanding song released just a couple of months late for Halloween season, ‘I Might’ continues to broaden Yvonne’s horizons as a songwriter.

The oppressively slow pace of ‘I Might’, blended with the roomy and lethargic beat, crafts an atmosphere that’s ominous and brimming with mystique. The dark composition is pocketed with moments of deceptive light, and Yvonne’s characteristically complex and seesawing vocal melodies make the song into an immersive masterpiece. Yvonne’s grandiose acoustic guitar delivery and the overdubbed melody on the same guitar are stellar, and the fuzzed-out rhythm part in the chorus is memorable. A wonderfully rich mix.

‘I Might’ might just be my favorite of Yvonne’s work so far. An inventive piece of songwriting and a lyrically introspective release, Edie Yvonne’s star is still on the rise.
