It has been confirmed that the legendary metal band will be the headliners for the first night of the three-day Soundstorm festival in Riyadh, scheduled for December 14.

The festival site, spanning more than 5.5 million square meters, offers plenty of park life areas for food outlets and street performers to keep festival-goers entertained between sets. Get ready for a week of excitement in Riyadh! Last year, there were more than 600,000 people reportedly attended Soundstorm. Attendees at Soundstorm last year reportedly exceeded 600,000 people.

“We’re not done with 2023 just yet, as an amazing opportunity has just come our way to perform at a major festival that we have never played in a part of the world we rarely get to visit.”

Soundstorm, organized by Saudi music giants MDLBEAST, has been attracting some of the biggest acts in the region and the globe to Riyadh since its launch in 2019. This year, the festival will include a huge variety of international artists including Pharrell Williams, Chris Brown, H.E.R., BLACK EYED PEAS, J Balvin, and Anne-Marie, as well as DJs Tiesto and David Guetta. In addition the participation of many Middle Eastern pop stars including Hakeem, Ahmed Saad, Elissa, Mohammed Ramadan, Nancy Ajram, and many more.

Following the changes that took place in Saudi Arabia over the last decade and the establishment of the General Entertainment Authority in 2016, private events have become more public. We think that inviting such a big name in metal music like METALLICA to perform is a major step towards opening up the entertainment and music industry in the MENA region to new, remarkable possibilities.

“We’re excited to announce that on Thursday, December 14 we’ll be the first hard rock band to ever play at @MDLBeast’s Soundstorm Festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.”

The Soundstorm festival is not the only exciting event happening next week. The third edition of XP Music Futures, a three-day music conference, will be held featuring workshops presented by music experts from around the world. The conference will also showcase XP Initiatives Program, which highlight music entrepreneurs from the Middle East. With the recent addition of METALLICA to the lineup, we believe that this event will mark the beginning of a new era for the entertainment and music industry in the MENA region.
