Russian Alt Rock/ Synth Rock outfit Under Delusion have just unveiled the fifth single from their upcoming second album. The song is titled “Music Is My Drug” and is a self empowerment anthem with cinematic qualities, making it sound like a movie soundtrack. The lyrics remind us of why we write music and how our repressed emotions come out clearer melodies and words, and this song in and of itself is solid proof of that concept.

The song begins with the electronic bassline and drums that usually make it to the cut on most Under Delusion songs, except this time they feel like a darker brand of modern rock. The guitars play a sexy and memorable melody line that will make you feel like it’s the credit song for one of the John Wick or Jason Bourne installments. The instrumental is so fresh and creates a lot of imagination of what a music video or movie scene for this particular sound could be like.

When it comes to the vocals, the band’s lead singer is a powerful mezzo soprano with some androgynous qualities to her voice. It’s like Cher meets Lady Gaga, but with a rock edge. Her timbre is cool and the way her vocals are mixed with the music makes the vocals feel like an instrument rather than a show stealer, which gives the band more attitude, authenticity, and a balanced sound. You could hear this song at dance clubs, goth clubs, or with the band playing it in a rock festival, and it wouldn’t feel out of place in any of those settings due to how versatile and likable the instrumentation is, and how the vocals don’t kill it.
