Gather around old-school metalheads! The UK metal act Angerland knows how thirsty you are for heavy/thrash vibes from the golden 90s and 80s era. Their latest single ‘Neon Dead,’ from their debut album which is set to be released later this year, will give you satisfaction enough till you get your album copy.

“One death is a tragedy, a million deaths a statistic” – Stalin. The ‘Neon Dead’ is inspired by a line in The Necromancer by William Gibson. The lyrics explore psychic numbing and compassion collapse as the number of victims increases, or as they quoted from Stalin as well to make it much clearer.

The UK heavy metal scene remains highly influential, with unforgettable bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Samson, and Saxon. Looking ahead to 2024, Angerland is a band I’d like to add to this prestigious list. Their track ‘Neon Dead’ immediately caught my attention with its captivating introduction and visually appealing video. The blend of vintage and modern elements was executed flawlessly, with clear and iconic lyrics. The impressive bass intro, powerful vocals, and tight drumline structure created a compelling piece. Special mention goes to the video by Mike Coles, which added a vintage touch with its effects and editing, standing out from the artificial trends of today.

The five-piece band from London is presently in the process of recording their first album at Viva Recorders with producer Tim Hamper. They are targeting an October release to coincide with their scheduled European tour dates in November. Personally, I believe Angerland has the ability to transport me through time with their music. I am eagerly anticipating the release of their album.
