Damon Kardon

As he prepares for the release of his full-length Silence expected in Spring 2023, Philadelphia-based multi-instrumentalist Amon Kardon dropped his solo project Brand Slogan’s latest single Never Let Me Down Again. A Depeche Mode cover that was brilliantly done, giving us insights into Kardon’s creative mind. Let me tell you more about it.

With heavy sound and fuzzy riffs, Brand Slogan has claimed Never Let Me Down Again and turned it into something his own. He managed to reflect Depeche Mode’s atmospheric vibes with his dense, shoegaze-influenced big sound, while his smooth melodic flow and groovy dynamics will get you hooked once you push play. The vocal melody and effect matched Brand Slogan’s mood and distorted heavy sound perfectly and gave Never Let Me Down Again a deep textured layer, and together with his intense riffs laid a hypnotizing interesting mood all over the song. Brand Slogan’s cover has a solid well-arranged and written melodies that felt like they were all bonded together seamlessly within a dynamic moving flow, always pushing forward into a bigger and more melodic picture, and that can be clearly seen in the chorus and outro.

Never Let Me Down Again is one of those covers that was done right and can be easily mistaken as an original song. Brand Slogan used his clearly solid writing skills and well knowledge of his sound and direction to put his own mark on a masterpiece by one of the greatest artists, and that was never an easy job. I’m totally going to recommend it and share it around my circles, looking forward to more. Cheers!
