If you’re acquainted with the Swedish rock and metal scene, you may have had the opportunity to hear My Dear Addiction. The band’s guitarist, Ludwig Jonsson, is launching his solo project and has released his latest single, “No Angel Is Watching.” Let me share more details about it below.

“No Angel Is Watching” is his second single, following the release of “Anybody Out There” last month, which received widespread praise from both critics and fans. I absolutely adore this track, and I must say, the chorus stands out as one of my favorite lines in any rock song I’ve heard in 2025 so far. His powerful vocals exude an energetic spirit that combines both old-school and modern elements. Delving into the music reveals a blend of various alternative, melodic, and hard rock influences. Ludwig Jonsson even noted this in his press kit, highlighting his strong inspiration from “Bullet For My Valentine.” However, this single showcases a range of other influences, as he explained: “this new single draws more from “Rise Against” and “Sum 41.” I also listen extensively to bands like “I Prevail” and “Memphis May Fire,” but this song leans more towards a rock sound.”

Typically, I prefer songs with lyrics that tell a story, as this adds depth to the music. “The story actually goes back many years. I played as a goalie on a local hockey team, and my goalie teammate was a big fan of a band called ‘Amon Amarth.’ He was really passionate about their lyrics, so I asked him to write one for me, and he did. As soon as I read the lyrics, the chorus came to me immediately, and I suppose that’s all that remains from that time… but it still resonates.” Ludwig Jonsson

Since the 1980s, Sweden has illuminated the music scene with a host of iconic bands, including Crematory, Katatonia, At The Gates, Opeth, Meshuggah, In Flames, and many more. Trust me when I say, we are on the brink of witnessing the emergence of a new rock legend. Cheers!
