BACK TO BASICS  WITH A TWIST!

The 351’s have erupted onto the punk scene from Quebec City with their debut EP, No Replacement for Displacement, out on Pils Records. Formed just over a year ago, this band captures the classic punk sound with a distinct modern twist, serving up raw, relentless tracks that pay tribute to the genre’s roots while bringing fresh energy to the mix.

Channeling the gritty, DIY spirit of 70s punk, The 351’s deliver a raw, tight, and unapologetically loud experience. The lineup, Kev “Alley Cat” Berrigan on guitar and vocals, Dom Rudester on bass, and Martin Gagné on drums brings an unfiltered, back-to-basics ethos with a sound that respects punk’s past without dwelling in nostalgia.

The EP’s lead track, Mother Anarchy, sets the tone. Opening with a jittery radio-tuning effect, the track explodes into a wall of guitar, bass, and drums that refuse to let up. Berrigan’s gravelly vocals add a layer of edge, bringing a melodic punk vibe reminiscent of bands like Rancid. The gang vocals at around 36 seconds pack extra punch, creating an anthemic singalong feel.

blankFuck All Fuckers, the EP’s second track, doubles down on the rebellion with unrestrained energy, capturing the essence of punk’s nonconformity and grit. The third track, The Hearse Song, keeps the momentum rolling, delivering dynamic shifts and raw power that align with the EP’s gritty aesthetic.

This EP is a testament to The 351’s mission to keep punk authentic and impactful. Renaud Rochette’s engineering, Jim’s mastering at Jimi Studios, and Chany Pilote’s tape mastering give the record a sense of depth without being overly polished which adds to the authenticity of the sound.

With No Replacement for Displacement, The 351’s prove they’re here to make punk matter again, blending homage with a modern edge. Keep an ear out, everyone! The 351’s will be back in the studio soon, and we can’t wait to see what is next!
