Produced by Cameron Mizell, who’s known for his work with icons like Machine Gun Kelly, Avril Lavigne, and Jelly Roll, Parasite is Jane N’ The Jungle’s newest single, set for release on the 15th of August. Originating from Phoenix, Arizona, Rock band Jane N’ The Jungle has officially formed a little over ten years ago in 2013, during their garage band days.
Their music has always been most influenced by 90s Alternative Rock, Punk Grit, and Metal edge. Yet, their music remains utterly contemporary, both invested in musical innovations and continuous developments, and rooted in our current dilemmas and problems.
Their latest single continues this tradition, this time dealing with the development that is most in all our minds: AI. With a suspicious view of the space Artificial Intelligence came to inhabit in our lives, the song laments it’s making us strangers in our own home, indeed making this world not a home for us at all and making us, rather than AI, simply parasitic now. Sketchy Goat’s lyric video’s futuristic visuals are perfectly complementary.
While not necessarily a unique or new perspective that adds to the fearmongering around the technology, the emotional sincerity of Jordan White’s bleeding vocals and Brian Dellies’ angry guitar turn it to a much more intimate and personalized account of powerlessness against a rapidly evolving technology, that will be easy to resonate with from listeners who feel their own place in the world is now threatened. Musically, it’s a song that is both fitting to workout to, or to angst to. It is energetic, fast, and gritty. With Jane N’ The Jungle performative flair and theatrical presence, the live performance of this new single is something to look out for.
