Nothing is better than a catchy bluesy riff that easily makes you swing and enjoy! The incredible Kent-based trio under the name of John Doe, released their single Railroaded about four years ago, but I really feel sad that I haven’t had the chance to check it out since then.
The guitars here are impressive, and as a guitarist, I subconsciously focus on the guitar lines in any track. Here, the catchy intro easily got my attention and made me fond of the track. The blues trio features UK Blues guitarist Phil Woollett, his talented son Ben on bass, and Paul Townsend on drums.
I can truly relate to this track’s theme, as we all encounter family challenges and mental health struggles. I admired how Phil channeled these experiences into his passion for lyric writing and overall musicianship. He performed regularly and taught guitar to support his studies, ultimately earning a first-class honors degree followed by a Master’s degree (with distinction) in music, specializing in performance.
I observed that the music is not only well-composed but also expertly mixed and mastered. This is a crucial point I want to emphasize, as many newcomers often concentrate solely on the music itself, neglecting the importance of the final process and the end product. I genuinely enjoyed the synergy between the bass and drums; when the solo hit, I found myself leaping from my chair, showcasing my air guitar skills! Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any new music recently from John Doe Trio, and I am eager to hear more from these talented artists, as they’ve undoubtedly earned a spot in my daily music rotation. Now, let’s immerse ourselves in the beauty of the music and listen below. Enjoy!
