Palm Ghosts is a dream pop / post-punk band based in Nashville TN. Taking cues from such bands as Cocteau Twins, Peter Gabriel, Echo and The Bunnymen, New Order, early U2 and The Cure, Palm Ghosts takes the sounds of early 80s alternative music and brings it into the new millennium. “”Press Animal”” is taken from the band’s upcoming EP “Loop Arcade.”
Listening to “Press Animal” is a nice experience. As the band is aiming to produce Dreamlike music, I was somehow excited to listen to the music of dreams. The music is full of pop/Electro techniques which create a mood of fantasy and imagination, it is like diving into timeless limitless colourful worlds. The usage of very melodic guitar rhythms form a sense of action and changing moods in the music. The sounds of guitars are almost the dominant one in the music even in some parts of the track they are higher than the vocals. As we are talking about dreams, the vocals wander between different pitches between calm, fancy, and high pitches. Experiencing such an imaginative mood is beautiful at least it could be as an escape from the burdens of real life.
