We got to get out, the fourth album of “Riven Earth” has been released after almost 2 years of intensive work. We, Günter Schlünkes, Wolfgang Beckers and Uli Krücken, have enriched our song material on the new album with the singer Christina Wouters. The collaboration with Christina arose from a chance encounter; After a first recording we were so enthusiastic that we decided to use her voice on all the songs on the new album. Now she is an integral part of our project as far as her acting is concerned!

Günter played all the guitars and bass on all the tracks. He also programmed the drums and spent what felt like endless hours mixing the sound.

The result was that Christina’s additional voice in the overall mix was more than just an additional voice that merged symbiotically with Uli’s voice. The polyphonic vocals became clearer and sounded far more authentic in the upper vocal ranges. All the compositions, except for “One Word”, were written by Günter Schlünkes and Wolfgang Beckers, who also played all the keyboards and took care of the promotion and website.

“One Word” was written by Welisar Petrow, another guest musician, who also plays most of the keyboards on his composition.

All lyrics and vocal arrangements are the brainchild of lead singer Uli Krücken

We Got To Get Out,“ which means something like “we have to get out of here”, is the theme of many of the songs. While the title song is about fleeing from a bombed city, “Against The Wall” reflects the desire to escape.

Against The Wall” reflects the desire for the removal and isolation of crazed despots of all shades. We also need to get out of this spiral of violence.

Lucky Got A Gun” This refers to Lucky Luciano. He came to America as the child of Italian immigrants. Alongside Al Capone, he became the most famous mafia boss of the 20s and 30s. He didn’t end well either, but the problem of the mafia still exists today – worldwide. These power structures must finally be broken up and abandoned.

There is an easy link to “The Same Old Lies”, the last song on the album. The machinations of the Catholic Church and its links to the Mafia are well known.

Through The Eyes Of A Child” is exemplary for all acts of violence. In all the armed conflicts of our time, children are the most threatened, they are the most defenceless in the turmoil of this century. If they don’t die themselves, they at least watch others die and are forever traumatized.

Rifles And Guns” also fits in thematically and ultimately closes the circle. We got to get out!!!

Dreams” Despite all this, you shouldn’t lose sight of your dreams, even if you can’t be sure that you haven’t dreamed them. This includes not looking back too much, but rather looking forward.

Looking Back” and “Still Alive” take a rather conciliatory approach to the passing of time and their very own reflections on different paths in life. And then there’s “One Word”, which is about the end of a relationship that could have been saved by a little word afterwards.

With this in mind and hoping for a 5th album.
