ENAVE released “Skeletons” on November 18th, a single off their album Another Side. The Ukrainian project operates on the edge of alternative rock and dark wave, building music that functions more like a soundtrack to internal chaos than straightforward rock songs. ENAVE describes themselves as “a code” rather than a name, a cipher for people willing to dig into their own darkness. Their previous singles, “The Time”, “Broken Promises”, and “Open Your Eyes” trace stages of what they call an inner migration, moving from loss and silence toward accepting darkness and liberation. “Skeletons” continues that trajectory.

This is more musical theater than cinematic rock. Maybe it’s tempting to call it cinematic rock because of the heavy use of tom grooves to create tension that is synonymous with the genre, but this is much more theatrical and epic than the average song in that genre. Like theater, the song has essentially 3 acts, with each act increasing the tension till all hell breaks loose in the 3rd act. The performance gets more raw as we, alongside the artists, confront the skeletons in our respective closets. It’s an entire play that unfolds in spectacular fashion.

“Skeletons” breaks you down before it pieces you back together, which is exactly what ENAVE is going for. The production leans into deep textures and emotional vocals without overpolishing anything. It’s the kind of track that demands your attention rather than sitting politely in the background. If you’re looking for alternative rock that goes somewhere emotionally heavy, this hits that mark.
