There seems to be nothing that can be said as an overstatement to the sound Vilamoura are capable of. A powerhouse group with an anthemic sound, intricate, melodic songs, and a production quality to rival just the best of the best. Vilamoura are a capable bunch in complete control of every aspect of their craft.

Today we’re checking out ‘Lost’, the title offering from Vilamoura’s upcoming EP release. The Austin, Texas group have been at it since 2012. From not-so-humble beginnings as a punk group with a raw sound, Vilamoura quickly found their footing and signature sound somewhere between metalcore, melodic metal, and post hardcore, with a pair of contrasting voices shaping their sound. This pairing, and Vilamoura’s melodic, epic tendencies can be easily experienced in ‘Lost’.

From the exhilarating guitar riffs starting the song, detuned and endlessly menacing, backed by an inventive beat struck so hard you can the drum heads cry for help, to the shift in dynamics into a melodic verse and chorus that are Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon-esque, the extreme vocals then kick in, reshaping the sound into something more ominous. The general flow of ‘Lost’ is intricate and non-linear, the riffs and beats rarely repeat in this winding journey of a song. The cherry on top of this wholesome cake is nothing other than the astonishing production value. ‘Lost’ sounds sharp and complete, a blistering arrangement of powerful performances captured perfectly.

‘Lost’ got us pretty excited for what Vilamoura have in store next for us. A talented set of individuals with an obvious passion for what they do, Vilamoura’s music is an affair of love. A harsh, brutal one.
