When TUSH charges onto the scene, you don’t ask for directions, you buckle up! Hailing from the windswept coast of Halmstad, Sweden, this five-piece band led by frontman Daniel Lantz doesn’t just nod to the greats of the ’70s and ’80s, they tear through time and bring that era’s grit and glory straight into 2025.
Their debut album Thunder Road, released on June 20th, doesn’t try to reinvent rock, it remembers why we fell in love with it. Opening with the title track, TUSH wastes no time unleashing a sound that fuses vintage swagger with modern fire. Drummer Ludwig Witt (of Spiritual Beggars and Grand Magus fame) drives the pulse like a machine, while Martin Ekelund’s basslines throb with wild-eyed intent. Twin guitarists Noah Söderberg and John Poulsen lace every track with harmonized riffs, razor-edged solos, and unapologetic attitude, think Thin Lizzy channeled through a Marshall stack.
And Daniel? He sings like the ghost of rock’s past just woke up in his studio and demanded a mic.
Tracks like “Sweet Temptation” and “Dreamers” evoke sunset highways and smoky bars, but there’s no stale retro gimmickry here: only heart, hooks, and hellfire. TUSH’s chemistry is loud, lean, and unfiltered. They play like a band with something to prove, and Thunder Road is the proof.
