If you’re a passionate rock enthusiast like me, chances are you’ve heard of the alternative Seattle rock band Candlebox at least once. Their former lead guitarist Brian Quinn is behind the creation of the legendary rock track, “Until Fall.”
As a starting point, alternative music is not merely about fusing various styles or schools of thought. While I might perceive it this way when reflecting on legendary acts from two or three decades ago, today, it has evolved into a distinct genre with its own unique characteristics.
From here, allow me to elaborate further… I firmly believe that when we listen to seasoned artists, we quickly become enamoured with their captivating riffs and lyrics. The motivation behind their powerful vocals, combined with their distinctive guitar style, makes this rock tune truly unforgettable.
In my opinion, an accomplished musician like him, with a decade-long tenure as the lead guitarist for the multi-platinum rock band Candlebox, possesses the expertise to select the ideal session musicians for his record. This includes talented individuals such as drummer Ron DiSilvestro, bassist Mike Vlaanderen, and keyboardist Dustin Napoli.
Upon reviewing the press kit, I observed that the music was labeled as “dark country.” However, I also noticed significant rock and blues influences. In my view, there is a beautifully crafted hard rock solo that elevates the entire song to a whole new level.
“With this project, my goal is to forge a new sound built from all of my musical influences,” Quinn explains. “It’s heavier than the current polished version of country music, and the lyrical content leans darker. It’s about the journey — the setbacks, the distance travelled, and ultimately finding your way back home.”
In conclusion, amidst this surge of AI, I truly miss songs like “Until Fall.” They evoke a strong sense of nostalgia for the late ’80s and early ’90s. I eagerly anticipate exploring more releases from Quinn. Cheers to the revival of that legendary era!
