If you’re tired of listening to vocals for quite some time, here’s an instrumental album that speaks volumes without using a single word.
Recorded in North Carolina, the United States of America, by Saves the Witch, the one-man band is led by Eric Maynes, who writes, arranges, produces, and performs all of his music. Impressive? Indeed.
His debut album “Fine Machines” expands beyond one genre to feature Post-Metal and Lofi themes along with Art Rock to give you a sonic journey like no other. With a message that music connects everyone, the nobility of the music reaches your heart immediately upon hitting play.

“Saves the Witch (STW) came about during the COVID-19 pandemic,” shared the artist. “After years of playing folk acoustic-type music, Eric branched out into a more instrumental arena with this project. The name Saves the Witch is grounded in embracing humankind’s differences and realizing that we are all connected, no matter how it may seem at times.”
“Abeam the Intrepid” takes a heavy metal turn with solid electric guitar riffs that fills your ears whether you’re listening on headphones or speakers, while songs like “Queen City” – dedicated to a girl named Charlotte – is more on the soft side of the spectrum with gentle guitar strokes that play on the strings of your heart.
As for the provocative “Your God is Dead”, the title might shock those who have faith, but the music offers a heartfelt perspective with acoustic sounds coupled with the sultry electric guitar that has you swaying to the tune. The song transitions near the end to a whole new vibe that is much more mellow than anything you might hear on the album, leaving you feeling relaxed and calm.
Overall, “Fine Machines” is an interesting listen if you’re looking for music that speaks to you without actually using words.
