Inviting you to forget everything you know and explore the unbeaten road is Kahnin, an Icelandic singer/songwriter who just released a thought-provoking anthem “Hollystick” with some of the biggest names in the industry.

Effortlessly weaving together the threads of multiple genres such as Americana, art pop, indie rock, and alternative, the track is genre-bending and transcends beyond the essence of just a song to offer question marks on what we think we know in our modern day.

“Hollystick” features a range of contributions from famous artists such as Leo Abrahams (Miley Cyrus, Brian Eno, Harry Styles), Clive Deamer (Portishead, Radiohead, Jeff Beck), and Dylan Wissing (Jay Z, Alicia Keys). Kahnin himself takes the greatest as his inspirations including Johnny Cash, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, and Neil Diamond.

“The song’s title is inspired by the holly oak, historically used for crafting magic wands by legendary sorcerers like Merlin and Harry Potter,” shared the artist. “It symbolizes the illusion and enchantment of Hollywood, questioning the reality we perceive through our screens.”

The music video follows a time traveler roaming the streets of Japan as people are about to be awoken to the vital truth after a long deep slumber. However, the track features the raspy vocals of Kahnin, and the simple acoustics of the guitar, before the beat kicks in and takes you on a ride through what you thought you might never stumble upon.

“Without evidence, we will believe you. They spin a tale of hope. We box in a ring, we rope a dope, simple folk. We´re skipping stones across the flattest curve we cannot see. With no rhythm nor rhyme, a Hollystick is waived at us to keep us in line,” sings Kahnin

We invite you to think differently, or forget what you thought altogether, and walk through a new realm that Kahnin is offering you. Enjoy!
