Australian musical duo extra-ordinaire Gunning for Allie releases an 80s alt-pop rock hit that instantly steals the show…” Alive” is infused with the brit-pop spirit and the energy of the 80s…it’s a musical deal no one could refuse.
On the lyrical side, “Alive” continues to reference the passing of lead singer Josh’s best friend Courtney, similar to their other songs like “Braille” and “Paper Hearts”.
The Brisbane duo manages to capture the essence of the time period they were exploring…which almost was the case when they started writing “Alive”, they were exploring when some synth sounds…something clicked, and off they went…
“Alive” bursts with energy…and even from the very first couple of seconds before the track really goes into the zone…the synth intro carries a lot of hidden and powerful storytelling elements…
…after that, the song floors the gas pedal, with chuggin electric guitar riffs and powerful upbeats drums…and of course the soaring vocals…
The vocals really shine brightly here…emotional, bright, powerful and lively, goes hand in hand with the upbeat nature of the musical composition here…really tight…
Interestingly, “Alive” is the third single off Gunning for Allie’s upcoming EP “Sleeping Alone”, releasing after the singles “Stay” and “Talk”…all of these three songs are actually highly recommended listens…making the upcoming album quite the event…we can’t wait.
We wish Gunning for Allie all the best, we’re looking forward to their upcoming EP and in the meantime, we have this 80s time machine musical experience to show us the world from a new perspective…”Alive” really hits the musical bullseye.
Cheers!
