HyperDense’s latest single ‘Dumbass’ is a barrage of high-energy rhythm, battering riffs, electrifying leads, and a truly intoxicating vocal presence. A confident and endlessly exciting piece that got me instantly sold on HyperDense.
HyperDense is a rock trio based in Southern London and founded in 2023 by singer Fenton Dabydeen and bassist Aaron Augustus. Their sound on ‘Dumbass’, as well as on their previous single ‘Puke’, can be safely described as somewhere between punk, psychedelic, and glam rock. Fueled by the manic vocal delivery of Dabydeen, HyperDense’s sound is infectious with its yelps, hollers, and passionate howls.
‘Dumbass’ is also a musically mature piece that’s loaded with propulsive rhythms and riffs. Its drumming is hammer-fisted with its flamboyant, glam-appropriate fills, and its riffs driving and high-octane. The intoxicating presence of a piercing lead guitar line is also a landmark in the sonic tapestry of the hyperactive and jumpy song, and with a solid, crisp mixing job that places all the manic energy of each individual instrumental exactly where it belongs, we are left with a lush piece of glam rock that continues to showcase HyperDense’s immense uniqueness.
‘Dumbass’ is just a really good time. An infectious composition that’s energetic, colorful, and bold, HyperDense are on their best foot with their latest single.
