Glasgow trio Junior VP dropped their debut single “Easy Come, Easy Go” on December 12th. The band’s roots go back to the early 2000s when songwriter and singer/guitarist Ross played in bands with drummer Steven around Glasgow and Edinburgh. Now they’ve added bass player Andy to the lineup. Their name comes from the American job position “Junior Vice President,” a nod to the US college rock and indie/emo bands that influence their sound. The track pulls from Jimmy Eat World and that early 2000s college rock aesthetic, built around big vocal hooks and a range of guitar sounds with a solo/riff at its center. Their debut album, “Do You Feel the Same?” is set to release in 2026, with a launch night planned for July. They’re playing their single launch at Bloc Glasgow on December 23rd.

Musically, the band embodies the song’s themes, with the music itself sounding easy-going. It’s high energy, yes, but it’s not angst energy; it’s wholesome energy. The kind that was prevalent in music created in the 2000s. They’re not trying to reinvent the wheel; this is simply good music, great songwriting, and pacing. Much of that is owed to a great drum performance, as it is the engine of the song. It feels like they’ve been writing music for years

Junior VP are aiming for something familiar but fresh, and “Easy Come, Easy Go” hits that mark. The production balances pop hooks with guitar work while staying true to their indie rock roots. For a debut single, this shows the trio knows what they’re doing.
