The Flying Beets return with their 7th full band release, a colorful and immediately gripping single titled ‘I See Through You’. The single sees the band’s usual smart songwriting blending with the unique delivery of their talented frontman to deliver an alternative rock cut with immediately infectious vibes.

Based in Fort Worth, Texas, The Flying Beets are a three-piece band fronted by gifted singer and songwriter Nathan Waller, supported by bass player David Cross and drummer Steven Clements. The drama in Nathan Waller’s vocals can be compared to the similarly dramatic performances of Future Island’s fantastic Samuel T. Herring. While I can’t speak of Waller’s live performances, I can compare the 2 singers in terms of their sheer expressiveness and the wealth of soul and inflictions present in their deliveries.

‘I See Through You’ is a wonderfully written song. a scruffy and minimal arrangement, each part is spectacularly delivered, with ample attention to detail, and later a gorgeous mixing job by Bart Rose of Fort Worth Sound. The song’s compartmentalized songwriting delivered its punches in little pockets of dazzling chord loops and unforgettable vocal melodies, making the song flow just beautifully, never settling down for a single moment.

‘I See Through You’ is a beautifully crafted and recorded song. with its thick, overdriven riffs, shapeshifting grooves, soulful voice, and gorgeous production, it is just a rich piece of alternative rock that I can’t see myself getting over anytime soon.
